Bob West vs Gill Morales

As a baseball coach, Bob West went 532-129 overall in 23 years as a head coach (1981-84, 1985-2005), tallying one state championship (2002), 10 trips to the Final Four, 16 district titles and three state runner-up finishes (1996, 2000, 2002).

West coached seven nationally-ranked teams, had 75 players go on to sign baseball scholarships and watched seven players of the year compete under him. Six of his players went on to play Major League Baseball, while two were named All-Americans and 21 more earned All-State honors.

In terms of baseball coaching accolades, West was named the ABCA Southeastern Coach of the Year once, the Florida Coach of the Year twice, the Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year once and the District Coach of the Year a whopping eight times.

How many coaches can say they won titles at two schools ? That’s what Gill Morales has done winning state titles at both Eagles View (2005, 2007, 2008) and Trinity (2015).

Since 2004, Morales has been to the Final Four six times (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2015). He has been a designated hitter in terms of coaching by stepping into different programs and hitting home runs in the process. He was named the Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year in 2015.
