Game 6
10U MOT Cowboys- 14 vs Ocala Pride-0

The game of the day featured the 10U MOT Cowboys versus the 10U Ocala Pride. The game was the final contest of the day. The Cowboys came into the game with high hopes after their big win on Friday against the JPJAA Raiders 31-0. The Pride came into the contest winners against the Pensacola Colts 12-2.

The game Sunday featured two stifling defenses. The Cowboys led by Nose Tackle Antonian Bivens (A.K.A T.O) stuffed the Pride’s running attack. While the Pride’s defense led by defensive end Ed Williams, shut down the cowboys ground and pound attack. The Pride had a chance to go up in the contest in the third quarter. Deep in cowboy territory, the Pride QB pitched the ball to the RB around the left end. The RB then pulled up for a halfback pass to a wide open Pride receiver who dropped the ball at the five yard line. The Cowboys would regroup and force a turnover on downs.

The game continued to go back and forth into the fourth quarter when the Pride again had the ball deep in cowboy territory. But the Pride fumbled their snap thanks to penetration by the MOT defensive line and the ball was recovered by the cowboys. Two plays later RB Darnell Rogers took a pitch around the right end, broke three tackles and scampered 75 yards down the sideline for a 75 yard touchdown. The extra point conversion was good and the score was 7-0.

The Pride had one more chance to tie the contest, but fumbled the ball on their own 40 yard line, leading to a MOT return for a touchdown. The final score of the game was 14-0 MOT Cowboys over the Ocala Pride. Ed Williams was named gamed defensive MVP from the Pride, and Rogers was named offensive MVP for the Cowboys. It was a hard hitting tough contest between two very well coached teams. What Ocala lacked in size they made up for in intensity and heart. Said Tamika Dewese who’s son plays on the Pride, ” We don’t let size intimidate us”. Coach TK of the pride echoed those sentiments. ” We’re just some hard working country boys. We left some plays on the field today, but I’m proud of our team”. Coach Jones of MOT realized that its all about getting the job done. ” I think we played pretty good, we made some mistakes early, but we stuck to our assignments and practicde and practiced and we got the job done”.
