The FHSAA District tournaments continued tonight across North East Florida. Here’s the the run down from some of the action..

Bolles vs Trinity

Lorenzo Lawrence (#0) scored 22 points to lead the Bolles Bulldogs over Trinity Christian Friday Night at Episcopal. Bolles controlled most of the game as they dominated with their height and length. Trinity closed the gap late in the fourth quarter thanks in part to #1 Shaun Wade’s 15 pts. But Bolles knocked down their free throws at the end to win the game.

Wolfson vs. Ed White

It was a battle just as anticipated as these two teams vied for the district this time. They faced each other in the conference tournament with White coming out victorious. But this time Wolfson was on their home court and with them was a raucous crowd eager to cheer them on. #23 Ty Railey led the Wolfpack with 17 points, while # 3 Sam Murray chipped in with 12 points to lift them passed Ed White 55-52.  The Commanders got 17 points from Dalvin Storey and 13 points  from Big Anthony Johnson in the competitive effort. But Wolfson proved to be to much on this night. #12 Tommy Collins scored 11 points and was just what the wolfpack needed to put them over the top.

Episcopal vs Baldwin

Baldwin jumped out to a 5-2 lead early in the first quarter stunning the Eagles home crowd. Baldwin used a mix of quick guard play with power at the center position to take the first quarter 7-6. But Episcopal would settle in and begin to take control of the game.  The Eagle’s guards used pick and rolls to get open or dish it to open teammates. At the half Episcopal had taken over the lead 19-10. The second half was more of the same, as Episcopal kept the pedal down on Baldwin. In the end the Eagles were just to much for the Indians as they beat them 42-29.

Providence vs Duval Charter

feb week1 139

This one was never close as Providence dominated Duval Charter 72-39. Ben Bobbitt along with Wyatt Walker helped lead the Stallions to victory. They also got contributions from their young players, like Sam Carrol who just moved up from JV. In speaking with another head coach from a prominent local team in the area, he states that  ” Providence will go deep into the playoffs  and won’t be challenged until they get up there in the high rounds”. Providence continues to earn the respect of their opponents as they continue to roll over the competition.

Bishop Kenny Vs. Baker County

This  game featured a thick atmosphere filled with suspense and enthusiasm from the Kenny student section and the Baker adult section! The actual game was just as suspenseful. A back and forth contest with several lead changes came to a surprising stale-mate with under a minute left in the game. Baker had their chances but could not hit their shots down the stretch to win the game. Instead it was BK’s Chris Joyce with 14 points and Chris Carlyle’s 12 points that allowed BK to squeeze past Baker 44-42. #5 Charles Ruise led Baker with 15 points.
