Look Out For Landon!! 33-0 Over Southside

Landmark defeated Southside 33-0 to go to 2-2 on the season. The Lions got on the board early with a touch down dive play to RB #6 Aaron Blunt. They increased their lead when Joseph Carter #5 scored to go up 14-0 in the first quarter. In the second quarter big Carl Flowers showed he can pound the rock too as he bulldozed his way on a drive toward the endzone. He would eventually score on a short dive play up the middle. Landon led at halftime 19-0.

In the second half, Blunt would add another touchdown along with their tight end Nick Nist to complete the shutout. Southside was not without positive plays of their own. Steven McCray Jr. is quietly pound for pound one of the toughest running backs in the city. He is the epitome of his team compared to many of their opponents. Undersized, but scrappy and hard working. McCray Jr. alomst broke several plays weaving and dodging around defenders. Southside must do a better job of sustaining their blocks to allow him to take it the distance.

The Landon defense led the way on the afternoon. Flowers led the charge with lots of tackles on that side of the ball. He was aided by Carter as well, who roamed the secondary making sure Southside did not complete any passes when they fell behind big. A testament goes to Coach Harris, a middle school football veteran, and his staff for putting together a great game plan to attack their smaller opponent.

At 2-2 Landon must get it in gear now. They have the talent and size to compete, but they have to gel as a unit. This game may have been that point where they came together. As for Southside, execution will always keep them in games despite their lack of size. They’ll look to add another W to their 1-3 record next week.
