Roundup: Patriot Oaks, Gamble, Murray, Swiss get big wins

PACETTI BAY – A slow start and an early deficit fueled Gamble Rogers to a come from behind 15-12 win over host Pacetti Bay.

Pacetti Bay jumped on Gamble Rogers early with a 12-0 lead and looked in total control of the game before the Singrays finally woke up.

King Benford connected with Aaron Wynn on a 34 yard completion and Wynn, who played in limited duty, broke of a 40 yard touchdown run.

Gamble Rogers coach Matt Potak said, “We played poor tonight with too many turnovers, however I’m extremely excited about wrapping up the South Division title and our third consecutive playoff berth.”

The Stingrays (7-1 overall and 6-1 in county) host Patriot Oaks next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., while Pacetti Bay (2-5) travels to Cornerstone Park to play Landrum.

Patriot Oaks 32, Sebastian 18

JULINGTON CREEK – Sebastian (0-7) gave Patriot Oaks (2-5) all it could handle and more before running out of gas at Plantation Park.

Sebastian jumped out to an early 12-0 lead before Patriot Oaks responded with 12 consecutive points keyed by a 50 yard run by Keaton Thomas to tie it at 12 all at half.

Patriot Oaks added a score in the third quarter to pull ahead 18-12 for their first lead of the game.

Bryson Sweeney connected with Maxwell Robinson for a 11 yard touchdown pass and Chris Huber added the two point conversion for a 26-12 lead.

Jake Thorpe broke free for a 22 yard touchdown run increasing the lead to 32-12 to close out the scoring for the Chargers.


Swiss Point 12, Landrum 7

LANDRUM – In a battle for the fourth seed, Swiss Point held off host Landrum 12-7 in a low scoring thriller. The defending county champions also clinched a playoff spot with the win.

Swiss Point (5-2) hosts Valley Ridge next Wednesday at Plantation Park at 7 p.m.


Murray 35, Valley Ridge 12

VALLEY RIDGE – Murray coach Arnett Chase vowed to run the table the month of October so far hes true to his word. Murray rolled through host Valley Ridge 35-12 to improve the Bulldogs playoff hopes.

Murray (3-4) travels to Landrum (3-4) in a showdown for the fifth seed next week.
