Duval Sports D1 Athletes: Ed White vs Nease

Demetrice Hugger, WR 2027

The catch of the game came from 5’7 Demetrice Hugger. He showed incredible leaping ability, high pointing the ball, making the catch, and getting in the end-zone. Coming over from rival Riverside HS, this experienced pass catcher makes Ed White one of the deadliest arsenals through the air.

Kash Kolbow, S 2027

UCF commit Kash Kolbow is a highly versatile, opportunistic star defensive back for the Panthers. The 6’0, 180lbs star creates turnovers, and makes game changing plays. Although I did not see him take the field versus Ed White, he is one of the top players in NE Florida rated a 3-star safety by 247 sports.

Rontrez Loyd Jr, RB 2028

Wearing the prestigious #5 for Ed White is one of their captains Rontrez Loyd. The 6’0, 215lbs RB is a bruiser between the tackles. Pushing piles for first downs and touchdowns. He did both in consecutive plays versus Nease. He has offers from BCU and Arkansas.

King Mercer, WR 2028

It’s amazing that this young playmaker is just a junior. His poise, leadership and athleticism has helped lead Ed White to the highest scoring regular season offense in Florida (2025). The 5’10 star showed that explosiveness versus Nease with a long 40-yard catch down the sideline before the half. He has offers from Pitt, Wake Forest, and Temple among others.

A candidate to lead the area in rushing this year is senior Enrique Ordonez. He found the end-zone for the first score of the game, and the final score of the game before it was called due to weather in the 3rd quarter. Elite vision, explosiveness and balance, the 5’9 star is one of the top backs in NE Florida.

Tavaris Jones, RB 2029

Jones was the player of the game versus Nease, setting the tone for Ed White’s comeback. The 5’11, 200lbs RB burst a long 60 yard scamper to score Ed White’s first points of the game. A lightning-fast playmaker with elite vision, the sophomore has the ability to lead the area in rushing in the coming years.

Rajon Riley, LB 2028

An explosive, hard-hitting young linebacker who stood out on the field throwing his body into tacklers with no fear. He has good height at 6’0, with speed and quickness that transcends to the next level as a safety.

Chase Phifer, TE 2027

The 3-star Boston College commit is an elite pass catcher that put that on full display versus Ed White. The 6’5, 202lbs TE made a big catch down the seam the defense to set up the first touchdown of the game.

Sidney Smith IV, DB 2028

An elite young defensive back who already wears the coveted #2 for Ed White as a sophomore. The 6’1,175lbs athlete has offers from FSU, Wake Forest, and Pitt. We saw why versus Nease as he showed a lot of range from the line of scrimmage to the end zones.

One of the highest recruited defensive backs in the area, the 6’0, 165lbs 4-star Wake Forest commit was not challenged much versus Nease. That was a smart decision. He possesses length, speed, and lighting quick agility to make QBs pay for throwing his way.

Tyshawn Ford, WR 2027

Ford is tough at 5’10”, 175 lbs but he’s also fast. He beat a DB for a touchdown slant in the game, and almost took a long run to the house. He’s explosive and will make explosive lays for Nease.

Mark Shiloh, DE 2027

A highly destructive defensive end and edge rusher at 6’3″, 235lbs. The 3-star FAU commit is a brick wall at book end forcing everything the other way or inside with brute power and force.

The 6’1″, 195 lbs Navy commit put on a show versus Nease. He connected with WRs Demetrice Hugger and Michael Hinson for long touchdown passes. He also showed scrambling ability with his big arm. King will put up record numbers on offense this year rushing and passing.

Aiden Phifer, QB, 2028

Phifer is committed to Northwestern. The 6’1″, 190 lbs signal caller is a 3 star rated QB who showed accuracy in short to intermediate throws against Ed White hitting Tyshawn Ford for a TD and Chase Phifer for a long gain.

Messiah Pridgen, OT 2028

A massive offensive tackle prospect standing 6’6, 300lbs. Still maturing as an elite tackle, Pridgen possesses the size and athleticism that’s trending in that direction. He has an offer from Syracuse.

The 6’2″, 200 lbs LB impressed with his ability to be physical at the point of attack, taking on pulling guards in the run game. He also has the length and range to cover a lot of ground in space.

Michael Hinson, WR 2029

He caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from quarterback King Boylston. In Spring he recorded an incredible, shifting touchdown run against power-house Bolles HS. The 5’10 WR is a rising star.

Chase Bogle, LB 2027

Following in his big brother Ben Bogle (West Virginia) footsteps, Chase Bogle is a hard hitting down hill linebacker that made several punishing tackles versus Ed White. The 6’0″, 215 lbs Bogle will make a lot of plays this year for Nease.

John O’ Dwyer, OT 2028

A highly coveted, powerhouse offensive tackle standing at 6’4, 280lbs. The 3-star athlete has offers from Florida, FSU, and USF among others. Dweyer opened holes for running backs versus Ed White, and was a key pass protector in the contest.

Jayden Haynes, DB 2027

Haynes is a long rangy corner standing at 6’1, 165lbs. He is committed to West Point, and will be defending the airways for Army. At Nease he’ll be tasked to shut down the top receivers of the opposing team, and Haynes will certainly lock down his side of the field.

Malachi Ross, DB 2027

A high-level DB at 6’0, 185lbs who coaches say has shown the ability to play deep safety or slide down into the box as a hybrid nickel and “rover” defender to stop explosive plays before they start.Offers from Graceland Unv and Williams Woods Unv.
