Around Northeast Florida Volleyball
The area’s 2025 season was led by Beachside, which finished 26-4 and ranked No. 1 in the final Jacksonville-area MaxPreps rankings. Middleburg, Ponte Vedra, Bishop Kenny, Fleming Island, Wolfson and Trinity Christian also finished among the area’s top teams. This year, teams are reintroducing themselves as the best in the area. Some familiar faces, and some new comers.
Volleyball Top 10
#1. Fleming Island (3-0) Fleming Island’s undefeated start comes in a Northeast Florida volleyball scene that has several strong programs capable of making deep postseason runs. The Golden Eagles were ranked sixth in the final 2025 Jacksonville-area rankings after finishing 19-8. The Golden Eagles were led throughout that season by Lauren Brosky, Lille Eason, Kaylee Clark, and Moe’ Ono’ Ono Aseta. Brosky recorded 115 kills, while Eason contributed 93 kills and 84 digs.
#2. Beachside (5-0) enters the conversation as one of the area’s premier programs, defeating Trinity, DME, Lincoln, South Walton, and Bolles. After finishing 2025 with a 24-3 record, at the time of the postseason rankings they earned the No. 1 seed in the Class 5A Region 1 playoffs. The Barracudas also spent the 2025 season at the top with their only loss at that point coming against eventual Class 5A state champion Chiles. They’re led by Nina Simanic, Ana Simanic, Mollie Vandeusen and Isabella Taveras- Seda
#3. Ponte Vedra (0-0) also remains a team to watch. The Sharks finished No. 3 in the final 2025 Jacksonville-area rankings and featured offensive contributors such as Vivi Woodbury, Lily Keely and Khloe Murray. They start their season tonight versus Middleburg.
#4. Bishop Kenny (2-1) is another program to watch. The Crusaders finished 2025 ranked No. 4 in the Jacksonville area and reached the postseason as a No. 2 seed in Class 4A Region 1. Bishop Kenny’s current roster includes juniors Chloe Johnhon and Claire Newell, as well as Maria Patelli . The Crusaders opened the 2026 season with a 3-0 victory over Lincoln before falling 3-0 to Fleming Island on Aug. 20. They also defeated Spruce Creek.
#5. Middleburg (2-1) is always a team to watch. In 2025 they went 17-11 battling some of the toughest teams in Northeast Florida every week. This year they have started the season with wins against Bartram Trail, and Oakleaf, while falling to Santa Fe. Their top players are Katelynn Laezza, Amelia Cobb, and Reese Forkum. The Broncos are no stranger to good teams, big wins , and championship volleyball.
