When the story of Northeast Florida track and field is told, Mikayla Shavers has earned a place among its all-time greats.
Her unforgettable senior season reached it’s peak in June when she captured the 2026 New Balance Nationals Outdoor Championship in Philadelphia, winning the girls triple jump with a leap of 42 feet, 10.75 inches.
Just weeks earlier, Shavers delivered one of the greatest performances in Florida track history at the FHSAA Class 3A State Championships. Her incredible jump of 42 feet, 11.5 inches not only earned her the state championship but also shattered the Class 3A state meet record and broke a Florida state record that had stood since 2005. The mark finished as the longest wind-legal high school triple jump in the United States during the 2026 season, placing her at the top of the national rankings.
Her dominance wasn’t limited to the triple jump.
Shavers also showcased her versatility by finishing as the Class 3A state runner-up in the long jump, soaring 19 feet, 4 inches to earn another state medal and prove she was among Florida’s elite in multiple jumping events. Those accomplishments earned well-deserved recognition throughout Northeast Florida.
Her accomplishments also include:
The Fleming Island High School standout officially committed to continue her athletic and academic career at the University of South Florida (USF) after putting together one of the most remarkable careers ever by a Florida high school jumper. As she transitions to the next level, humility and hunger will prove to take her far as she completed in the most competitive sport ever created.
