AUGUSTINE-When Brian Braddock and his staff\u00a0look at the film over the\u00a0weekend, one thing they are sure to is think about what might have been.<\/p>\n<p>You can be sure the staff might be second guessing themselves after seeing St. Augustine\u00a0(11-2)\u00a0stumble 28-10 to Navarre last night at Foots Brumley Stadium in the\u00a0Regional I-6A final.<\/p>\n<p>What if the ball had not ricocheted off the wide receiver hands and into the\u00a0hands of the Raiders defender, which led to a Raider score four plays\u00a0later ?<\/p>\n<p>What\u00a0if they didn&#8217;t kick a field goal in the fourth quarter trailing 21-7 \u00a0?<\/p>\n<p>What if the trips inside the red zone in the second half had resulted in more than 3 total points?<\/p>\n<p>And most importantly what if they were able to tackle better and contain Michael Carter and\u00a0hold him out of the end zone?<\/p>\n<p>These questions might haunt the coaching staff and players for the next six months.<\/p>\n<p>Things started off well with a defensive battle early on as both teams exchanged three and outs in a scoreless first quarter.<\/p>\n<p>My how quickly that changed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_27231\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27231\" style=\"width: 376px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.duvalsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Michael-Carter.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-27231\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-27231\" src=\"https:\/\/www.duvalsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Michael-Carter-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Michael Carter carved up the Yellow Jackets defense finishing with 234 yards and four touchdowns to lead Navarre into the Final Four next week at home against Lake Gibson.  \" width=\"376\" height=\"501\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.duvalsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Michael-Carter-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.duvalsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Michael-Carter-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.duvalsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Michael-Carter.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 376px) 100vw, 376px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-27231\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Michael Carter carved up the Yellow Jackets defense finishing with 234 yards and four touchdowns to lead Navarre into the Final Four next week at home against Lake Gibson.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Carter broke free for a 14-yard touchdown run giving the Raiders a 7-0 lead\u00a0about two minutes into the second quarter.<\/p>\n<p>St. Augustine\u00a0answered back as Cole Northrup hit Jacoby Feliciano in stride for a 66-yard touchdown connection tying the game at 7-7 a minute later.<\/p>\n<p>Carter gave the\u00a0Raiders the lead back\u00a0at 14-7 with a 6 yard run with 1:40 left\u00a0till half.<\/p>\n<p>Despite having three timeouts and the ball near midfield, the Yellow \u00a0Jackets\u00a0made no attempt to try to tie it before half, sitting on all three timeouts going into the half.<\/p>\n<p>Leaving most Jackets fans shaking their heads and speechless needless to say.<\/p>\n<p>Still trailing 14-7 midway\u00a0through the third quarter, Northrup pass was tipped and fell out of the\u00a0hands of his receiver and into the hands of a Raider defender giving the ball at the Jackets 9-yard line.<\/p>\n<p>Four\u00a0plays later, Carter was in the end zone\u00a0again for his third\u00a0touchdown and more importantly\u00a0giving the Raiders a 21-7 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Northrup, the\u00a0Jackets moved down the field with ease on the\u00a0ensuing drive getting inside the 7-yard line as we headed into the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p>However, two\u00a0incomplete passes from Northrup forced Braddock to settle for a field goal despite being down 14 points cutting the lead to 21-10 with 11:15 remaining in the game.<\/p>\n<p>Two possessions later, the Jackets were back in the red zone again thanks to a desperation pitch to Jahquise\u00a0Russell, who took the pitch 65 yards down to the 14 yard line.<\/p>\n<p>Three consecutive carries by Russell had the Jackets down to the 5, facing fourth and 1\u00a0with 5 minutes to go.<\/p>\n<p>Russell again was\u00a0given the ball and he was met head on by a host of Raider defenders turning the ball over on downs.<\/p>\n<p>Carter, 234 yards and four touchdowns, put an exclamation point on the game with a electrifying 69 yard run with two minutes\u00a0remaining to give Navarre a\u00a028-10 lead. Carter, who is committed to North Carolina, appeared tackled but kept fighting and spun off the tackle and raced untouched for the score.<\/p>\n<p>Northrup and Feliciano moved\u00a0the ball down the field and had the Jackets inside the 13-yard line before Northrup was picked off with 1:14 left in the game to seal the game.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST.
