FRUIT COVE – Despite their heads being somewhere else, you wouldn’t have known the Fruit Cove Flyers were a little distracted this week.<\/p>\n

When teammate Jacob Shedlin was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor, his teammates wanted to do something special for him to cheer him up.\u00a0 The players dedicated the Murray game to Shedlin this week and responded with an easy win.<\/p>\n

Our Week 3 Game of the Week featured No. 2 Fruit Cove and No. 6 Murray, but it was anything but a classic as the Flyers easily handed the Bulldogs a 46-0 defeat at Plantation Park.<\/p>\n

Fruit Cove (3-0) jumped out to a 27-0 lead at the half and kept its foot on the gas in the second half as\u00a0Garrett Stewart scored on a 10 yard keeper early in the third quarter,\u00a0Preston Strope rumbled 25 yards for a score early in the fourth running over a Bulldog defender around the 5 and\u00a0Stewart capped it with a 1 yard sneak late in the fourth.<\/p>\n

After the win, players couldn’t wait to sign the game ball and give it to Shedlin as soon as possible. Players were so wrapped up in signing the ball, they forgot their after game chores of picking up the yard markers and goal post pads.<\/p>\n

For Fruit Cove coach JC Calhoun it was another blow out win and chance to get better.<\/p>\n

Calhoun said the game was dedicated to their teammate\u00a0Jacob Shedlin and the players were excited to not only get the win but bring him the game ball.<\/p>\n

Murray put up a good fight despite having only 18 kids to work with. The Bulldogs have some play makers just not\u00a0enough depth to play with the majority of the county teams.<\/p>\n

Fruit Cove (3-0) hosts Sebastian at 5 p.m. next Wednesday, while Murray (1-2) host Swiss Point at 5 p.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Gamble Rogers 34, Landrum 8<\/strong><\/p>\n

So far so good for Gamble Rogers, which hasn’t really been tested so far this season, including a 34-8 win last night over host Landrum.<\/p>\n

Stingrays tailback Aaron Wynn scored three touchdowns, two rushing and one receiving to go along with the 200 all-purpose yards in the game. Quarterback King Benford ran for two touchdowns and hooked up with Wynn for another score.<\/p>\n

Defensively, the Stingrays were led by the line of Eyan Dekle, Dylan Flynn, Chris\u00a0 \u00a0Barnes, Jordan Dunkin and Moses King, which held Landrum to 12 rushing yards.<\/p>\n

Linebackers Kani Harris and Noah Lawless also helped assist in the game and the\u00a0 \u00a0Stingrays shutting down the Lions offense.<\/p>\n

Offensively, the Stingrays offensive line paved the way for an offense that\u00a0 \u00a0accumulated\u00a0 381 yards of offense behind Tabias Brown, Liam Terrell,\u00a0Tyrell Newson,\u00a0Benford and Wynn.<\/p>\n

Potak added kicker Bryce Addison contributed four extra points in the win also.<\/p>\n

Gamble Rogers (3-0) host Valley Ridge (0-3) at home 5 p.m. next Wednesday; while\u00a0 Landrum (1-2) travels to Patriot Oaks.<\/p>\n

Pacetti Bay 28, Valley Ridge 6<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pacetti Bay took on Valley Ridge in a battle of winless teams and came away with its first win of the season with a 28-6 win.\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Pacetti Bay battled Valley Ridge in a meeting between a pair of win less teams.\u00a0Pacetti Bay came out on top 28-6 to earn their first win of the season.<\/p>\n

“It was a great first win for our Wildcats! Valley Ridge came to make certain we would remain winless,” Wildcats head coach\u00a0Terry Ramos said. “Our\u00a0 Wildcats would have no part of it! We were first to get on the board in a hard fought battle. Then we did not let up.<\/p>\n

Pacetti Bay (1-2) hosts Liberty Pines 5 p.m. next Wednesday. Valley Ridge (0-3) travels to Gamble Rogers at 5 p.m. next Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Swiss Point 41, Sebastian 0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Swiss Point jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and never looked back in the 41-0 win over Sebastian at 2209 Park yesterday in the first game of the doubleheader.<\/p>\n

Dominic Fields scored two touchdowns in the first quarter to put the Raiders ahead 14-0, on runs of 65 and 21 yards both on third and 15 plays.<\/p>\n

Special teams came up with a big play blocking a Sebastian punt and returning it for a score but the score was nullified for a block in the back. A few plays later,\u00a0Justin Naddou rumbled 38 yards to increase the lead to 21-0 in the first still.<\/p>\n

Backup quarterback Caden McDuffie got a chance to start when the starter left town as his family evacuated due to Hurricane Irma and he delivered. McDuffie faked a handoff to Fields and raced 28 yards untouched for a 28-0 lead in the second quarter and then\u00a0connected with Fields for a 30 yard strike and another score making it 34-0 in the third quarter.<\/p>\n

Swiss Point (2-1) goes to Murray next Wednesday at 5 p.m., while Sebastian (0-3) travels to Fruit Cove (3-0) Wednesday at 5 at Plantation Park.<\/p>\n

Liberty Pines 51, Patriot Oaks 16<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the second half of the doubleheader at 2209 Park, Liberty Pines dispatched Patriot Oaks 51-16 to remain undefeated on the season.<\/p>\n

Eric Weatherly paced the Wolves with four touchdowns, Eli Sutherland scored two touchdowns and Ethan ‘Video Game’ Sutherland added another touchdown in the win.<\/p>\n

Liberty Pines (3-0) travels to Pacetti Bay (1-2) Wednesday at 5 p.m.; while Patriot Oaks (1-2) host Landrum (1-2) at 7 p.m. at Plantation Park.<\/p>\n
