Providence Moving Onward And Upward Through Historic Season

Northeast Fl- Not since the 2014-2015 season has Providence seen a start like this in boys basketball. That year, the team went 33-1 on their way to a Class 3A State Championship victory over Sagemont. Now in 2022-2023, the Stallions are once again riding high as they’re off to a stupendous start at 17-1 on the season .

Providence defeated Nease 51-30 last night extending their current win streak to 6-games. In that span, Providence has defeated Impact Christian Academy 77-70. Bolles 73-40, Orange Park 47-41, and Ponte Vedra 60-45. All top 10 teams in Northeast Florida.

Before falling to Winter Haven 53-36 in the City of Palms Classic Christmas tournament, Providence started the season on an 11-game win streak. Wins during that span included ones against IMG Blue, Oakleaf, Episcopal and even a 65-23 victory over The Villages Charter.

Mason Lee (14 points), Chris Arias(14 points) and Jaylen Robinson(10 points) all scored double digits against IMG Blue in the tournament. They’ve led the Stallions all year in several statistical categories, but most importantly, W’s.

As Providence keeps looking onward and upward towards more victories this season, it’s safe to say that it won’t be easy. The Stallions face University Christian (9-5) this Thursday hoping to get their 18th win on the season.

They also have St Petersburg (11-4), Fleming Island (12-6), and NFEI (13-5) on deck, who will be eager to knock the top team in the area. Still, the Stallions and head coach Jim Martin have confidence and experience on their side, as the Stallions have achieved one loss seasons twice before even their 2014 championship campaign. In 2012, and 2009, both of which coincidentlly were championship seasons.
