For years, Kyle Boylston has been one of Northeast Florida’s most dynamic athletes. Whether patrolling the outfield on the baseball diamond or delivering big hits from the secondary on the football field, Boylston built a reputation as a competitor who excelled whenever the spotlight was brightest.
Now, that dedication has paid off.
Following the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft, Boylston signed as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Mariners, becoming the first player in St. Johns Country Day School history to sign a professional Major League Baseball contract.

Boylston’s path to professional baseball has been anything but ordinary. He was coached by his father (Kyle) from a young age excelling in multiple sports. The support of a loving family, mom (Laqueta), brother (King) and sisters (Kyla and Kali) helped center support for future major leaguer.

A standout at St. Johns Country Day, Boylston helped establish the Spartans as one of Florida’s premier baseball programs. During his high school career, the Spartans reached the FHSAA state championship game twice while consistently competing against some of the nation’s best teams. A five-tool prospect with speed, power, arm strength, and defensive range, Boylston earned national attention from professional scouts and recruiting services. He was ranked among Florida’s top prospects by Perfect Game and entered his senior season as a legitimate MLB Draft candidate.

While baseball was his primary sport at St. Johns Country Day, Boylston also showcased his athleticism on the football field. After St. Johns Country Day discontinued its football program, he continued his football career at Sandalwood High School before finishing at Trinity Christian Academy. As a defensive back, he totaled 78 career tackles, 10 interceptions, and numerous pass breakups while also making plays at wide receiver, proving he could impact games on both sides of the ball.

His rare ability in two sports earned him the opportunity to continue both careers at Florida Atlantic University.
At FAU, Boylston became one of the nation’s few true two-sport collegiate athletes, splitting his time between baseball and football. As a safety for the Owls football team, he contributed on defense and special teams while balancing the demanding schedule of Division I baseball. Coaches praised his work ethic, discipline, and ability to transition seamlessly between sports throughout the academic year.
On the baseball diamond, Boylston’s development continued rapidly. As a freshman, he appeared in 30 games with 19 starts and made an immediate impact offensively, including a memorable collegiate debut in which he went 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs. He also contributed to the football team by recording tackles and playing valuable special teams snaps.

His sophomore campaign elevated his draft stock even further. Boylston appeared in 45 games with 37 starts in the outfield and at designated hitter. He hit his first collegiate home run, collected his first career triple, tied the FAU program record with three stolen bases in a game, and set career highs in several offensive categories while helping the Owls remain competitive throughout the season. His combination of speed, athleticism, defensive versatility, and baseball instincts attracted the attention of professional scouts across Major League Baseball.
Boylston’s professional dream became reality when he signed with the Seattle Mariners organization. For many players, signing as a free agent can provide just the opportunity to begin their professional journey with an organization that believes in their long-term potential.
From starring at St. Johns Country Day to balancing two Division I sports at Florida Atlantic, Kyle Boylston has consistently embraced challenges that most athletes would never attempt. Now, as he begins his professional baseball career with the Mariners, Northeast Florida will be watching closely to see where his remarkable journey leads next.
