The second week of the 2026 high school volleyball season has brought plenty of movement, statement wins and several highly anticipated matchups across Northeast Florida.
With several teams already facing ranked competition, the Duval Sports D1 Volleyball Top 10 continues to feature a strong mix of undefeated teams and programs battling through challenging schedules.
1. Fleming Island — 5-0
The Golden Eagles remain at the top of the rankings after opening the season with a perfect 5-0 record. Fleming Island has been especially impressive at the net, including a 3-0 victory over Bishop Kenny and a 3-0 win over Mandarin. The Eagles also defeated Providence School and Ridgeview in straight sets.
The schedule gets tougher from here. Fleming Island is set to face Oakleaf, Fletcher, Santa Fe, Spruce Creek and Ponte Vedra before a Sept. 17 showdown at Trinity Christian. The Sept. 22 home matchup with Middleburg and Sept. 24 meeting with Wolfson also stand out.
2. Beachside — 7-0
Beachside has been nearly flawless to start the season. The Barracudas enter Week 2 at 7-0, including a 3-0 victory over Providence School on Sept. 2.
Beachside’s undefeated start will face another major test when the Barracudas travel to Middleburg on Sept. 3. They will then host Mandarin on Sept. 8.
Beachside has already shown it can compete with the area’s best, and the No. 2 ranking reflects that consistency.
3. Trinity — 5-1
Trinity has rebounded strongly from its season-opening 3-0 loss to Beachside. The Conquerors have won five straight, including victories over Ridgeview, St. Augustine, Providence and Fletcher.
Most recently, Trinity rallied past Middleburg 3-2 on Sept. 1, to lay the smack down on a Top 5 team in the area. The Conquerors extended their winning streak to five matches, and find themselves in the Top 5 now.
The Conquerors now face Bishop Kenny on Sept. 3, followed by University Christian, ESJ, Fleming Island, Christ’s Church Academy and Ponte Vedra later this month.Â
4. Middleburg — 3-2
Middleburg has played one of the more challenging schedules early in the season. The Broncos opened with a 3-1 loss to Santa Fe but bounced back with wins over Bartram Trail, Oakleaf and Ponte Vedra.
Middleburg then suffered a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Trinity, leaving the Broncos at 3-2.
The next challenge is immediate: Beachside visits Middleburg Sept. 3. The Broncos also have upcoming matches against Clay, Chiles, Bishop Kenny, Wolfson and Fleming Island.
5. Ponte Vedra — 1-1
The Sharks have only played two matches and split those contests. Ponte Vedra’s most recent match was a five-set battle with Middleburg, with the Broncos winning 3-2. That was a tough matchup to start the season, but the Sharks rebounded well with a victory over Nease 3-2.
Ponte Vedra has several opportunities to make a move in the rankings, including upcoming matches against Fleming Island, Beachside and Middleburg. They will have to play better than they did against Nease in order to have a shot to move up in the rankings.
6. Bolles — 2-1
Bolles opened the season with an impressive 3-2 victory over Fletcher and followed it with a 3-0 sweep of Christ’s Church Academy. The Bulldogs’ first setback came against Beachside, which swept Bolles 3-0 on Aug. 25.
Bolles now has a difficult stretch ahead, including St. Johns Country Day, Oakleaf, Yulee, Ponte Vedra, Creekside, Wolfson, Bishop Kenny, Mandarin, Trinity and Fletcher.
They are a good team with lots of potential that will continue to make statement wins as the season goes on.
7. Wolfson — 4-1
Speaking of a statement wins.. Wolfson continues to climb after a strong opening stretch. The Wolfpack recently defeated Baldwin 3-0, adding another sweep to an impressive start.Â
Wolfson recent victories included Bartram Trail 3-1, and Bishop Kenny 3-0, with the Bishop Kenny matchup catapulting them over Fletcher in the rankings whom they lost to earlier in the season.
The Kenny victory is truly astounding and a historic win for the school and the program. Wolfson has not faced the volleyball powerhouse in over 20 years, yet with the recent success of the program, they’ve scheduled tougher opponents. No one could’ve predicted this win, except maybe them. They are playing confident volleyball, and a team on the rise.
The Wolfpack’s ability to compete against the area’s established programs will be important as the season progresses.
8. Fletcher — 4-2
Fletcher has faced plenty of high-level competition already. The Senators opened with a 3-0 win over Bartram Trail, lost a five-set thriller to Bolles, swept Oakleaf and then defeated Wolfson 3-1.
Fletcher also battled Trinity in a 3-2 loss, showing that the Senators remain capable of challenging the top teams.
After defeating Yulee 3-1, the upcoming schedule features, Fleming Island, Ponte Vedra, ESJ, Atlantic Coast, Mandarin, St. Augustine, Stanton and Bolles. Plenty of contests for the Senators to move up.
9. Bishop Kenny — 3-2
Bishop Kenny has already seen its share of ups and downs. The Crusaders opened with a 3-0 win over Lincoln but dropped a 3-0 decision to Fleming Island. They have since added victories to reach the 3-2 mark. The loss against Wolfson albeit out of the ordinary, isn’t outlandish. Wolfson is a good team, but so are the Crusaders.
Bishop Kenny faces Trinity Christian on Sept. 3, followed by Tocoi Creek, Middleburg, Providence, Bolles, Santa Fe, Ponte Vedra, Beachside and ESJ.
That schedule gives the Crusaders plenty of chances to prove they belong higher in the rankings. However, it has proven the toughest in the area so far.
10. Tocoi Creek — 5-0
The Toros round out the Top 10 and remain one of the most intriguing undefeated teams in the area. At 5-0, Tocoi Creek has yet to suffer a loss and will have opportunities to make a major jump as the season develops.
The Toros have Bishop Kenny scheduled for Sept. 8, while later in the season they are slated to face Fleming Island and Middleburg.
Week 2 Storyline: The Tests Are Coming
The biggest takeaway from Week 2 is that the area’s top teams are beginning to face one another.
Beachside at Middleburg, Bishop Kenny at Trinity, and the upcoming Fleming Island, Trinity, Ponte Vedra and Bolles matchups could have a major impact on future Duval Sports D1 rankings.
With three undefeated teams—Fleming Island, Beachside and Tocoi Creek—leading the way, the race for the top spot is already taking shape. And with several ranked teams scheduled to meet over the next few weeks, expect the Top 10 to continue changing as the season unfolds.
