Something Had To Give; Westside Get’s First Win Versus Atlantic Coast

Jacksonville Fl- Two teams attempting to get their first victories Friday night, clashed just outside of E-Town as Westside visited Atlantic Coast. Both teams came into the contest at 0-2. Westside fell to two undefeated teams at the tme in Riverside (2-1) and Jackson(3-0). While Atlantic Coast fell to Terry Parker (1-2) and Ribault (2-1), who were both 1-1 at the time. Something had to give, and on this night it would be the defense of Atlantic Coast. As Westside (1-2) defeated Atlantic Coast (0-3) by a score of 22-6.

The game started with several punts as the offenses struggled to move on both defenses. Fot Atlantic Coast, outside linebacker Camden Hardy got the first sack of the game. Hardy is the son of former Jacksonville Jaguar Kevin Hardy, who is on the Atlantic Coast staff.

For Westside they had 4-star defensive tackle Jordan Hall, who dominated on defense early on. On one series, Hall made three straight tackle for losses in the backfield as he overwhelmed Atlantic Coast’s offensive line.

So, in order to jump start his offense, Coach Randy Randall inserted his big man on offense. Trailing 3-0 in the second quarter after an Atlantic Coast field goal, Westside began to move the ball thanks to the hard running of running back Aundra Walker.

After gaining a first down, Randall called his playmaker’s number Antwon McCrae, who took a speed sweep around the left side following the block of big Jordan Hall and racing down the sideline for a long touchdown.

The score would put Westside up for good as they went on to win the game 22-6. Westside will face Ribault at home next week, while Atlantic Coast welcomes Mandarin next week.
