Flag Football: Ed White, Fletcher and Clay Move On To Sweet 16!

Northeast Fl- The flag football playoffs are in full effect in Northeast Florida, as several teams battled it out for the chance to advance to the sweet 16. Fleming Island hosted Fletcher, Clay hosted Stanton, and Ed White hosted Paxon for the right to stay alive one more week in a quest to bring a flag football championship to the area.

Our #7 ranked team Paxon took on our #5 ranked team Ed White in the second round of the Class 1A FHSAA playoffs. It was a defensive battled as anticipated with both teams playing to a 0-0 halftime draw. Paxon’s Reese Holman came down with two interceptions in the game.

Not to be outdone, Ed White’s Alysha Williams would pick off a Paxon pass to keep the score knotted at 0-0 going into halftime. The Commander’s defense was suffocating, not allowing Paxon within 10 yards of the end-zone and scoring position.

Headed into the 4th quarter, the tide would turn drastically in the game, as Ed White received the big play they needed. With 2:00 to play in regulation, Tyra Pierce would receive a punt from Paxon, fake the handoff and race to the house for the deciding score.
