Neptune Beach Fl- The Nease Panthers are one of the best teams in class 6A in the state of Florida. After a spectacular, undefeated, regular season last year, Coach Drafts looks to duplicate last years success. Meanwhile for the Fletcher Senators, this is the second year in a row they have started the year off 3-0, before having to face Nease in week 4.

Last year’s matchup wasn’t close, resulting in 39-0 beatdown by Nease. This year, both teams put their undefeated records to the test in a highly anticipated week 4 matchup. Nease would win the toss and elect to defer to the second half, putting faith in their strong defense from the start.

Fletcher wouldn’t do much on their first drive, which would result in a punt. Nease would drive down the field with ease on their first offensive possession. They leaned on the strong running of Enrique Ordoñez, whose strong running lead them all the way to the red zone.

Sophomore Quarterback Aiden Phifer would take a QB dive to the left side to give the Panthers the first lead of the game. Nease would pull off some trickery on the extra point, which would give them an early 8-0 lead.

That Nease touchdown seemed to wake up the Fletcher Senators. Before the end of the first quarter, they began to really move the ball down the field. Cruz James found Iowa commit, Diodre Smith for a huge connection that set the Senators up well in the redzone.

On the first play of the second quarter, Fletcher’s running back Jah’myri “Grownman” Jennings punches it in for a short rushing touchdown. Fletcher would go for a two point conversion to tie the game up but would not convert, leaving the score 8-6 in favor of Nease.

Brayden Felder would come up with one of the easiest touchdowns he’ll ever get this season. The short receiving touchdown from Phifer put the Panthers up 15-6 before halftime.

The third quarter was very uneventful. Both offenses really struggled to find any spark, as all the drives would end in punts or fumbles. Early into the fourth quarter, Nease continued to rely on their strong run game. Enrique Ordoñez would put the nail in the coffin early on in the fourth quarter.

A short rushing touchdown would put the Panthers up 22-6. Nease’s defense, led by senior linebacker Jacob Curry, would not allow a single point in the second half. Demonstrating the strength and toughness Coach Drafts has built into this team, Kash Kolbow would seal it with an interception.

Unfortunately, this game would come to an early end. A Fletcher offensive lineman would go down with an injury late in the fourth quarter. The player took a scary hit and struggled to get up, before being taken away in an ambulance. Both Coach Drafts and Coach Fason decided to end the game there.

This win for the Nease Panthers shows how dominant they have been so far this season. Every game this season has been won by two or more possessions, which is very hard to do at any level of football. Additionally, this is the  third game in a row their defense has allowed 10 or less points in a game.

Nease will have a really strong test next week, as they will host the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets who have one of the best offenses in the area. That will be a rematch of last year’s thriller that went into overtime, in which Nease walked away with a 1 point victory.

As for Fletcher (3-1) and Coach Ciatrick Fason, they will have an easy matchup next week against Sandalwood, before a very hard three game stretch of Oakleaf, Flagler Palm Coast, and Mandarin. They hope to get a few players back that were injured for this game.
