
Jacksonville Fl- The 2025-2026 season will be remembered as one of the greatest years in the proud history of Raines High School Track and Field.
Under the leadership of head coach Steven Bellamy, the Raines Vikings stormed into the Jacksonville Track & Field Season with determination that defined the 2025-2026 FHSAA Class 2A State Championship season.
With a performance for the ages, scoring 83 points and winning the team title by a stunning 49-point margin.That margin of victory is the second-largest in Florida state meet history in any classification, trailing only Shanks High School’s 76-point victory over Lecanto in 1995.

Final Team Standings

With only 10 athletes competing, the Vikings delivered one of the most dominant performances the state has ever seen.
Legendary Numbers
The championship was built on depth, versatility, and relentless determination.
Raines finished the state meet with:

- 9 Personal Records


The “4 Horsemen Club”
One of the most electric moments of the state meet came in the boys 4×400-meter relay.
Jordan Middleton, Alexander Higgins, Jonathan Downer-Barrett, and Owen Kaye delivered a spectacular performance, winning the state title in 3:12.82.
The quartet entered the meet ranked:
- #2 in FHSAA Class 2A
- #5 in Florida
- #17 in the United States
When the lights were brightest, they ran the fastest time of the 2026 FHSAA State Championships across all classifications.
Their dominant victory cemented their place in Raines lore as the newest members of the “4 Horsemen Club.”

Iason Williams: The Hurdle King of 2A
Junior Iason Williams turned in one of the finest individual performances in school history.
Known as the “Hurdle Technician,” Williams claimed the FHSAA 2A State Championship in the 110-meter hurdles with a winning time of 14.21. He also earned a bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 54.13.
Williams finished the season ranked:

- #10 across all Florida classifications
400 Hurdles
- #1 in FHSAA 2A
- #5 in Florida (Class of 2027)
- #13 in the United States (Class of 2027)
The 6-foot-2 honor student also boasts a 3.96 GPA, proving he is as impressive in the classroom as he is on the track.
Earlier in the season, Williams became the first hurdler in Raines history to win Gateway Conference titles in both the 110 and 400 hurdles.


Owen Kaye: Sprint Star
Owen Kaye was a major force throughout the season. He won the coveted 100M at the Bob Hayes Invitational.
The senior won the state title in the 200m in a personal-best 20.87, and anchored the winning 4×400 relay in 3:12.82 to cap Raines’ first boys team state championship season since 1998.
At the District 3 Championships, Kaye captured titles in both the 100 and 200 meters and anchored two championship relay teams. His speed and consistency were crucial to the Vikings’ state title run.
Raheim Roberts: A New Legend
Senior Raheim Roberts added another chapter to his remarkable story.
Roberts won back-to-back Gateway Conference titles in the high jump, becoming one of the top five high jumpers in school history with a personal best of 6-foot-5.5.
At state in the High jump he placed 6th 6-1.5.
Triple jump: He placed 5th with a 45-1.75.
He joins elite company alongside Raines legends Fred Miller, Maurice Lewis, and Kelvin Youngblood.
What makes Roberts’ journey even more impressive is that he did not begin track until ninth grade and only started high jumping one year ago.

Long jump: 2nd place. Hamire Walker (Raines), 22-5.25
400: 6th place . Jonathan Downer-Barrett (Raines), 48.37
100: 2nd place. Kelvin Brown Jr. (Raines), 10.62; 4th place Owen Kaye (Raines), 10.75.
4×100 relay: 2. Raines, 40.85.
3200 relay: 1st place
Dominating the Postseason
Before winning the state championship, Raines captured:
- Gateway Conference Championship
- District 3 Championship
- Regional Championship

The Vikings produced district champions in:
- 110 Hurdles – Iason Williams

- 100 Meters – Owen Kaye
- 200 Meters – Owen Kaye

This championship marked the program’s fifth Gateway Conference title in the past 16 years, further establishing Raines as one of Florida’s premier track programs. It was also an unforgettable year for Raines football head coach Donovan Masline, who also won a State title as a coach with the Track & Field Team.
The 2026 Raines Vikings did more than win a championship—they set a standard. With elite performances, school records, and historic margins, this team etched its name among the greatest squads in Florida high school track and field history.
