Jacksonville Fl- The Jacksonville Waves have made an immediate impact during their inaugural season, quickly establishing themselves as one of the premier teams in the Upshot League.
Under the leadership of head coach Jessica Bogia, the Waves have built a winning culture that has translated into success on the court. Bogia brings more than 20 years of coaching experience and a strong reputation for player development, recruiting, and program building. She spent 14 years coaching at the NCAA Division I level with stops at Hofstra, Jacksonville University, and the University of Memphis before taking over the expansion franchise.
The results have been impressive. Jacksonville currently sits atop the Upshot League standings with a 9-3 record, proving that the first-year franchise is already a championship contender. They are averaging 82.8ppg and holding opponents to 79.2ppg.
The Waves assembled an experienced roster featuring talent from some of the nation’s top collegiate programs. Former Florida State center Adut Bulgak anchors the frontcourt, while LSU standout Khayla Pointer, Alabama forward Jasmine Walker, Maryland guard Shyanne Sellers, Virginia Tech’s Taylor Soule, Georgia Tech forward Brianna Turnage, Northwestern guard Lindsey Pulliam, Hofstra guard Emma Von Essen, and Memphis products Ariel Hearn and Madison Griggs have all contributed to the team’s success.
Two hometown connections have become fan favorites. Jacksonville native Janasia Law joined fellow local product Rennia Davis, a former Ribault High School star who helped the legendary Lady Trojans capture multiple state championships during her prep career before starring at the University of Tennessee.

In fact, two of the league’s top five scorers wear Jacksonville Waves uniforms. Veteran guard Ariel Hearn leads the team with 15.4 points per game, while Davis ranks among the league leaders with 14.7 points per contest. Their scoring punch has helped power the Waves to the top of the standings and provided fans with plenty of exciting moments throughout the season.
Like most expansion teams, Jacksonville faced the challenge of building chemistry from the ground up. However, the players quickly embraced Bogia’s vision. The team developed a reputation for toughness, unselfish play, and resilience, allowing the Waves to consistently compete with some of the league’s best teams.
Beyond the wins and statistics, the Jacksonville community has embraced the franchise. Fans have rallied around the team, and young athletes throughout Northeast Florida now have another source of inspiration close to home.
The inaugural season has become about much more than simply introducing a new franchise. The Waves have established an identity, created excitement for women’s basketball, and shown that Jacksonville is ready to support another successful professional team.
