St. Johns FL- The outstanding Bartram Trail baseball season ended Tuesday night, as the Bears fell to Hagerty 6-3 in the FHSAA 7A Regional Final. Bartram ended their season with a 21-9 record and as one of the best teams in Northeast Florida. They played tough hard nosed baseball all year, relying on several players to step up when needed for wins.

Riding a six game winning streak into the regional final, Bartram defeated Flagler Palm Coast (5-0), Sandalwood (6-2), Oviedo (3-2), and Apopka (5-0) in the district championship and then playoffs. It was pure grit that led them through those tough tests, and that grit was shown in their regional final versus Hagerty (17-11).

In the top of the third, Hagerty went ahead 4-0 thanks to a 2-RBI single by Danny Beldowicz. They led 5-0 in the 6th inning when Bartram senior DH Noah Wood hit a single with two outs to bring home two runs. The Bears trailed 5-2 to end the inning.

Bartram struggled on the mound going through three pitchers in three innings. Hagerty on the other hand was impressive on the mound, pitching a perfect game through eleven batters. This made it hard for Bartram to gain ground quickly, yet trailing 6-3 in the 7th Kolt Myers would hit a sacrifice fly to bring a run closing the gap. However, with runners at first and third and the tying run on the plate the Bears couldn’t extend their winning streak to 7 games, as Hagerty retired the side and won the game.

Bartram was led by Justin Nadeau (6 home runs), James Delamiellure (37 hits and 23 RBIs), and the three headed monster of Ashton Pocol (71 strike outs), Hunter Pankey (30 strike outs) and Schuyler Sanford (41 strikeouts) at pitcher. A season
