Bartram Gets The Home Shutout Over Fleming Island

St. Johns Fl- It wasn’t pretty but Bartram Trail will certainly take it. The Bears got a 17-0 victory over District 4S-3 foe Fleming Island Friday night, to improve to 6-0 on the season and 1-0 in the district. The Bears get ready for a big showdown versus Creekside next week. A game that will have much more than bragging rights on he line.

Turning Point

In the third quarter leading 3-0 thanks to a Liam Padron field goal. Bartram would increase their lead to 10-0 when Riley Trujillo tossed a touchdown pass to Jack Cremen for a score. Up until this point it was a defensive battle that saw both teams make big stops on the night.

Defense Wins The Day

In the second quarter, Sergio Lanzas intercepted a pass at the 10-yard line, stopping a potential Fleming Island scoring opportunity. The Bears defense was stout all night, and has been a big part of their success on the field. The interception set up the field goal to put point on the board.

In the fourth quarter Laython Biddle put icing on the cake as he plunged into the endzone for a short touchdown run, giving Bartram a 17-0 lead. Biddle’s score would be his 11th rushing touchdown of the year, as Bartram took home the victory.

Fleming Island suffered their second district loss, and is all but eliminated from district title aspirations. Now they must refocus on trying to win enough games to qualifiy for the playoffs. They will have a golden opportunity at home versus 4-1 Lake Minneola next week.
