The oldest rivalry in Northeast Florida: St Augustine versus Palatka

Palatka Fl- Northeast Florida’s oldest and most-played rivalry concluded the 2022 regular season for St Augustine and Palatka high schools Friday night.

Palatka and St. Augustine were tied at 7-7, when Jamarrie McKinnon’s 8-yard run for Palatka made it a game with 3:07 in the first quarter.

St. Augustine went up 14- 7, with 11:47 in the 2nd quarter when Devonte Lyons with a 1-yard touchdown run that was set up by a Palatka personal foul.

A Joseph Alvarez 40-yard field goal pulled Palatka to within 4-points, 14-10 in the second quarter.

A touchdown by the Yellow Jacket’s Devonte Lyons of 8-yards saw a 21- 10 lead by St Augustine at halftime.

St. Augustine would go on to win the game 42- 10 over Palatka. Devonte Lyons would finish with 24 carries for 135 yards and 3 touchdowns as St Augustine extended their series lead 57-44-3.
