Seven is the biblical number of completion. So every Sunday, we’ll highlight our 7 Takes from a particular game that we covered during the week. These “7 Takes” make up a complete game summary, highlighting key factors that led to the outcome. Our sixth complete game we provide 7-Takes from Rockledge at Trinity Christian.

Take #1

Cam Anderson, the Conquerors leading tackler on the season, showed his extreme versatility versus Rockledge. The senior showed his skills on offense, rushing 4 times for 70 yards and 2 touchdowns. Anderson slipped a tackle behind the line of scrimmage and found the pylon for a 60-yard touchdown run on the last play of the third quarter. He also scored the deciding touchdown in overtime to win the game.

Take #2

The Rockledge run defense was impressive in the loss. Going against Darnell Rogers (Valdosta St commit) who had run for over 100 yards in 3 of 5 games this year, the Raiders held Rogers to just 60 yards on 17 carries and out of the endzone. Rogers came into the game has the 4th leading rusher in the state. Rockledge’s 4-star safety Jaylen Heyward (UCF commit) covered alot of ground for the Raiders, which allowed the front 7 to key on Trinity’s backs.

Take #3

Miles Burris is all smiles this year, as he should be. The Charlotte commit is having a spectacular senior year at wide receiver. Against Rockledge, Burris tallied 115-yards and a touchdown. It’s his 7th touchdown of the year, putting him in the top 25 of wide receivers in the state. What’s most impressive is that he has faced teams like Bolles, Rockledge, American Heritage, and Columbia. He’s done it against the best.

Take #4

Rockledge’s Jamarcus Giscombe got the party started on Friday and all most shut the party down as well. He started with a pick 6 for his team in the first quarter, while also catching the game tying touchdown in the fourth quarter. Rockledge has played a tougher schedule than even Trinity Christian, facing Seminole, national ranked Duncanville (TX), and Osceola. Plays like the one Giscombe made in the game, gives a team confidence which showed Friday as the Raiders took the game to overtime.

Take #5

Trinity’s defense only gave up one score against a very good Rockledge team. They held Rockledge’s offense scoreless in the first half, and in overtime. Linebacker Lovell Vereen lead the team in tackles with 12 against Rockledge. Kaleel Vereen got a sack, as well as Michael Sterdivant who now leads the team with 6.5 on the season. Two stand out performances to note. One occured in the 4th quarter, after Rockledge blocked a punt on Trinity’s own 12-yard line, the defense held and forced a field goal. Sterdivant came up big again with a blocked field goal.

Take #6

Rockledge had a chance to take the lead more than once on the leg of their kicker. After quarterback Traven Green found Jamarcus Giscombe for a 15-yard touchdown, the extra point was blocked. Rockledge, instead of going up by 1-point, tied Trinity Christian 13-13 with, 7:42 to play in the fourth. The Raiders would then miss the short field goal with 3:25 to play.

Take #7

Trinity’s grit and determination really came through in the overtime period. Rockledge got the ball first. Trinity committed a pass interference on 4th down, yet the Conqueror’s defense still held Rockledge out of the end-zone. Lovell Vereen had a crucial pass deflection to prevent a score. On offense, it only took the Conquerors two plays to seal the win. Cam Anderson ran around the left end following the blocks of his offensive line to the pylon for a 6-yard score. Trinity defeated Rockledge 20-13.
