Baseball action in the area has thinned out as many local teams have fallen in the playoffs. But Bartram Trail and Trinity Christian have stayed hot and ready to cook up something special for their opponents in the State Final Four at Jet Blue Field in Ft. Myers Florida.

Hopefully you’ve been keeping track of the local scores with our scoreboard powered by Score Stream (Home page). But Bartram and Trinity have had improbable journeys so far.

Bartram defeated some of the best teams in our area from the 6A division, taking down Englewood in the first round, Creekside in the second, and Oakleaf in the third. In fact, their only loss this regular season from the area was to Creekside. Their other losses were from teams outside the area. It’s a telling stat to the leadership and commitment each coach and player has to the team’s success. They’re led by Mike Cassala whose hitting .351 going into the final four. Cassala has 89 strikeouts. Blake Marabell has 18 RBIs and Tanner Murphy has 18 Stolen Bases. It’s a complete team effort by the Bears who travel to Ft. Myers to take on Ocala Forest.

In 3A action, Trinity Christian took down Yulee in the Regional Quarterfinals. They then were able to squeeze past Bolles in the Regional Semifinals, and followed that up with a blow out of Pensacola Catholic in the Regional Finals.

Trinity prepares to take on South Sumpter down in Ft Myers Florida, and will be looking for big contributions from their team. Players like Andrew Williamson, Ryan Aspinw, and Joah Broughton who have played key roles on the team thus far will be looked at to make more big plays in the final four. There’s no doubt that Trinity is a team that could take it all the way and cap championship seasons in both football and baseball.

Congratulations to Bartram Trail and Trinity Christian for advancing to the State Baseball Semifinals!
