Northeast Fl-The Ponte Vedra Sharks girls basketball team delivered a powerful regular season campaign that firmly reestablished them as one of Northeast Florida’s elite squads. Finishing with an impressive 21-6 overall record and a strong 6-game winning streak down the stretch, the Sharks combined balanced scoring, tenacious defense, and veteran leadership to climb into the upper tiers of the Class 5A ranks. It’s their best season since the Shark’s State Championship runner-up squad who went 24-6 in 2017.
Coach Jessica Spencer-Gardner, in her fourth season at the helm, guided Ponte Vedra with a culture built on discipline and “We Over Me” teamwork. Under her direction, along with coach Spencer Schurb and key addition to the staff coach Asia Maye, the Sharks continued a tradition of success by winning a district championships. They return to the state playoffs after a 13-13 season in 2024, which saw them fall in the first round. Coach Spencer-Gardner guided her girls to the state Final 4 in 2023-2024, falling to Bloomingdale 55-50.

The 2025-2026 Sharks made statements early and often. They opened with a 64-54 win over Orange Park, then rolled past Episcoal (61-37) and ED White (67-41) to show both offensive firepower and defensive consistency. In late January, Ponte Vedra notched a signature victory over Andrew Jackson (50-39) — a major regional rival. They kept the momentum going with wins against Bartram Trail (61-52), Ridgeview (62-34), and St. Augustine (86-27), before capping a dominant stretch with a 77-32 victory over Beachside late in the season.
At the heart of the Sharks’ success were several standout performers. Sophomore point guard Jocelyn Hoffmann emerged as the team’s offensive engine, averaging roughly 15.5 points per game while leading the team in steals (3.2 per game). Her court vision and scoring ability made her a constant threat in transition and in half-court sets.

Freshman Audra Davis made an immediate impact with roughly 1.4 blocks per game and scoring 9.7ppg, highlighting the team’s defensive identity.
The Sharks’ offense was among the more productive in Northeast Florida, scoring over 57 points per game through December—a testament to both offensive balance and depth. Chloe Spencer-Gardner showed her incredible shooting with a 46% mark from 3-point land, and averaging 7.8 ppg.
