Ponte Vedra Pushes Past Orange Park Toward Elite 8 Battle With Booker T

Ponte Vedra Fl- The postseason momentum continued for Ponte Vedra High School as the Sharks delivered another strong playoff performance, defeating Orange Park High School in an intense girls basketball matchup that highlighted depth, experience, and timely scoring.

Ponte Vedra entered the game riding the confidence of an impressive playoff run. Just a week earlier, standout guard Audra Davis erupted for a career-high 28 points against Mosley High School, helping fuel the Sharks’ postseason surge. In their first-round playoff win, Jocelyn Hoffmann added 15 points, establishing herself as a consistent offensive force heading deeper into bracket play.

Orange Park entered the matchup with momentum of its own, led by dynamic guard Ella Crowe, who had powered her team past Fleming Island High School with a 25-point performance in the opening round. Her scoring ability and pace-setting playmaking presented a clear challenge for Ponte Vedra’s defense.

From the opening tip, the Sharks controlled the tempo with disciplined half-court execution and aggressive defensive rotations. Hoffmann quickly found her rhythm, attacking off the dribble and knocking down perimeter shots to keep Orange Park on its heels. She led all scorers with 22 points, delivering a poised and efficient performance that set the tone throughout the game.

Ponte Vedra’s balance proved decisive. Davis followed up her recent breakout with another strong outing, contributing 12 points while applying steady pressure on both ends of the floor. Inside and around the lane, Chloe Spencer-Grdner added 12 points of her own, providing physical play, rebounding presence, and timely scoring that helped maintain separation whenever Orange Park threatened to close the gap.

Defensively, the Sharks focused on limiting transition opportunities and forcing contested shots, a strategy that helped neutralize Orange Park’s offensive bursts. While Crowe and company worked to generate momentum with defense. Junior Jayde Brant’s hustle on a steal led to a transition assists by Crowe to sophomore Trinity Dinkins for the basket to kept them in the contest.

However, Ponte Vedra’s disciplined and team defense consistently answered, allowing the Sharks to maintain control down the stretch and secure the 70-61 playoff victory. With the win, Ponte Vedra advances deeper into the postseason, where the level of competition only intensifies.

Their next playoff opponent will bring another test of pace, defensive pressure, and tournament experience. Booker T. Washington (Pensacola) is ranked #1 in Region 1 and averaging 53.7ppg. They pressure opponents into turnovers averaging 11.2 steals per game.

The Sharks’ balanced scoring attack, recent offensive confidence, and tightening defensive execution position them well for the challenge ahead. They are averaging 57.4ppg and 12.5 steals per game. They also posses the ability to defend the rim averaging 3.4 blocks per game with the 6 foot 1 long Audra Davis patrolling the paint.

If Hoffmann continues her scoring surge and Davis sustains her postseason form, Ponte Vedra will enter the Elite 8 with momentum—and the belief that their playoff run is far from finished.
