Jackson Drives Back To Elite 8 After Pressuring Bradford Into Costly Mistakes

Jacksonville Fl- In a dominant postseason performance, Andrew Jackson High School powered past Bradford County High School 74–48 in the FHSAA Class 3A Sweet 16, showcasing the depth, athleticism, and defensive pressure that have defined the Tigers’ season.

Jackson wasted no time setting the tone. Javion Davis scored the game’s first baskets, sparking early momentum. His intensity and energy galvanized his team all night. Inside, Donald Hackworth established physical dominance, finishing strong around the rim and anchoring the interior. By the end of the first quarter, Jackson’s pace and defensive intensity had built a commanding 16–7 lead.

Bradford showed fight in the second quarter. Jordan Cason helped trim the margin, cutting Jackson’s lead to 11 at 20–9. Hustle plays from Kemonte Nixon kept Bradford within reach, as his scrappy effort helped narrow the deficit to 22–16. But Jackson responded with highlight-reel energy.

Terrell Mosley II electrified the crowd with a powerful jam, helping the Tigers carry a 28–20 advantage into halftime. It was a low scoring scrappy contest thus far. Both teams battled in a playoff atmosphere where the loser goes home. Yet Jackson’s length and quickness were a glaring mismatch over Bradford, pressuring them into missed shots, and missed opportunities.

That continued.. the third quarter belonged to Jackson’s frontcourt and transition attack. Hackworth continued to dominate the paint, delivering another emphatic slam to push the lead to 37–23. Meanwhile, Josiah Williams soared for a smooth layup and played with increasing aggression, especially as the game progressed.

Jackson’s defensive pressure intensified as well, swarming passing lanes and forcing multiple Bradford turnovers. By the end of the third quarter, the Tigers had full control of the game. Javion Davis, Corenzes Dennard, Cortell Pauling, King Sanders, Torrence Trotter and Justin Jackson pressured like a pack of Tigers and devoured the Tornadoes with unrelenting defense and fast break points.

Any hope of a Bradford comeback was erased in the fourth. Mosley buried a deep three-pointer, then followed with another dagger from the corner that brought the Jackson bench to its feet. The Tigers’ relentless defense and efficient scoring closed the game in convincing fashion, sealing the 74–48 victory.

Jackson’s balanced scoring and suffocating defense reflected the consistency they’ve shown throughout the season, built on strong interior play, explosive transition scoring, and disciplined team defense. Under the leadership of Byron Shemwell, the Tigers have now advanced to the Elite 8 in consecutive years, continuing their pursuit of a return trip to the Final Four.

Next up, Jackson will face Newberry High School, the No. 2 seed, in a highly anticipated Elite 8 showdown. Newberry advanced with a decisive 77–49 win over Episcopal School of Jacksonville, setting the stage for a marquee matchup between two of Class 3A’s top contenders. With momentum firmly on their side, Jackson enters the next round playing some of its best basketball of the year.
