Pop Warner Nationals: Duval Teams Fall in First Round

Orlando FL,  The first round of the Pop Warner Super Bowl tournament began on Saturday December 6th  & concluded today December 7th with two of our area teams participating. The Creeks Outlaws from the junior pee wee division, and the Sweet Water Eagles from the Midget Division.

Creeks faced College Station out of Texas in the first round of their tournament. Creeks came into the game with a powerful rushing attack and very stout defense. However College Station seemed to be to much for the Outlaws. In the end the final score was 28-0, the first time Creeks had been blanked since week #1 of their regular season. College Station was highly touted because of their regional victory the week before and proved to live up to the hype. With the loss the Outlaws will face the Milford Eagles in the consolation brackets.  Milford( CT) lost their first round game to the Dear Valley Snakes (AZ).  Final:Creeks-0 College Station – 28

Sweet Water faced Palmetto (FL) in their first round game. Sweet Water has relied on their big play ability to catch teams off guard with play calling.

They’ve played aggressive defense all year coupled with a ball control offense. This seemed like the perfect recipe for the Raiders out of Palmetto, but it was not so.

Palmetto capitalized on big plays and held Sweetwater without a score for the first time in three months. Sweet Water will play the Chicago Chargers in the consolation tournament.    Final: Palmetto 29- Sweet Water-0

Even though both area teams fell short of their goals they achieve mightily in the eyes of everyone here in Duval and the entire North East Florida region.  As regional champions, each team accomplished a great deal during a long road. A championship quest, that has come to an end.
