NFEI Makes A Statement With Big Win Over Paxon

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The NFEI Eagles (3-1) defeated the Paxon Golden Eagles (3-1) on the road, 82-61.

The Eagles were led by Javon Prindle, junior guard, who had a team and game high 17 points off the bench. The Golden Eagles were led by Jakobe Williams and Quinnton Jackson, senior guards, who each had 15 points.

NFEI never trailed the entire game thanks to four of their five starters scoring in double digits. NFEI got out to a fast start. Two minutes into the game Dahntay Tillman, senior forward, threw down a two handed slam off of a steal in Paxon’s backcourt. The Eagles would go onto to win that quarter 18-14 behind 10 first quarter points from Prindle.

The beginning of the second quarter, the Eagles went on a 13-5 run behind 10 second quarter points from Malachi Smith, junior shooting guard, to put his team up 31-19 with 3:30 to play in the half.

But the Golden Eagles would come soaring back with big timely buckets from senior guards, Williams and Jackson. Bruce Gee, junior guard/forward, chipped in four second quarter points. Two of which came with 30 seconds to go in the half. Gee completed a fast break opportunity and finished through contact. But missed the free throw opportunity. The halftime score was 38-30 with NFEI on top.

NFEI outscored Paxon by two in the third quarter. Dimron Phillips, senior point guard, commanded the Eagles offense well and even took matters into his own hands. After a quiet first half with only two points under his belt, he went off for seven third quarter points.

But Paxon came within seven of the Eagles thanks to a big three from Daniel Watson, senior point guard, with two minutes to play in the third. But the Eagles would hold on and have a 10 point lead after three.

NFEI sealed the deal in the final eight minutes of the game. They outscored the Golden Eagles by 11, 31-20, in the fourth. Marko Mojsilovic, junior guard, scored 13 fourth quarter points including three treys to help seal Paxon’s fate. NFEI would win 82-61.

NFEI was led in the big win by Prindle (17), Mojsilovic (16), Phillips and Smith (15), Tillman (12). Paxon was led by Williams and Jackson (15) and Gee (13).

NFEI (3-1) prepares to welcome Beaches Chapel (0-1) Thursday December 3rd at 7pm. Paxon (3-1) will get ready to travel to Andrew Jackson (3-0) Saturday December 5th at 7pm.
