Spring Bling: Ponte Vedra Sports Third Girls Soccer Title!

It’s a spring celebration in Northeast Florida, as championships galore grace the first coast. Drake and Future once said, “I got a really big team And they need some really big rings”. Team “Duuuuuval” is big, encompassing several counites in the area and several teams represented in their state championship contest making for a festive spring break. Let’s recap who’s sporting the new bling with championships and rings.

Ponte Vedra defeated Archbishop McCarthy (Southwest Ranches), 2-0 to claim the FHSAA Class 5A Girls Soccer State Championship on March 5th. Tamlyn Parkes scored twice on assists from Ella Shapiro in the championship game. Parkes capped a great comeback season from an injury last year. Freshman Audrey Johnson secured a save in the contest, stepping up on the big stage.

With Parkes, Ponte Vedra was just a different team on the field. Starters Audrey Johnson, Carson Beliakoff, Olivia Bestic, Victoria Villasana, Abbey Mulhall, Rylie Cornwell, Maggie Mace, Ella Shapiro, Riley Rojahn, and Eli Mabe contributed all season. The Sharks finished with a 14-3-5 record, including a 7-game winning streak.

Ponte Vedra won their third girls soccer championship in school history. Head Coach Dave Silverberg won his seventh state title, including three at Ponte Vedra, and four at Nease previously. An impress feat by truly an impressive coach and program.
