Champions Spread Their Wings At Track & Field Championships

It was a great mother’s day for many mothers around Northeast Florida. They were able to witness sons, daughters, granddaughters and grandsons compete on the highest stage in Track & Field and win. Check out some of the Track & Field competitors and champions from this weekend.

Class 1A Track & Field Championships 5/7/2021 Friday

Boys 4×100 Relay ChampionsTrinity Christian

Trinity Christian brought home the first state championship for Northeast Florida as Kensley Johnson (SR), Christian Ellis (JR), Terrell Jackson (SR), Jahron Williams (SR) in the 4×100 relay running a 42.90. The team also set a school record this year running a 42.10 twice. Amazingly, the speedy group made up the Trinity Christian football secondary that also won a state championship in football this year.

Class 3A Track & Field Championships

Boys 100M Champion -Aaron Bell (SR) Terry Parker HS

Boys 200M Champion- Aaron Bell (SR) Terry Parker

Aaron Bell capped a spectacular senior campaign at Terry Parker winning both the 100 and 200 meter championships at UNF. Bell ran a blazing 10.34 in the 100m and a 20.71 in the 200m. Bell place first in 16 of 18 individual races this year.

Class 2A State Championships

Boys 110 Meter Hurdles Champion– Harrison Robinson (JR) Raines HS

Just a junior Harrison Robinson is one of the most gifted track & field athletes around. A state champion in the 110m hurdles (14.29), he also competed in the 300M hurdles, and the triple jump at state. He has another year to add gold in the those evets to go with his hurdles medal!

Boys 4×100 Meter Champions- Andrew Jackson

41.55 was the time that did it for Jackson High School’s Cornelius Cooks, Justyn Bland, Ronald Hargrove, and Traunard Folson. They won the Boys 4x100M Class 2A State Championship. The team had the best improvement of any group in Northeast Florida going from finishing third in early relay races to having the best time in Northeast Florida and State Champions.

Class 2A 4x400M Relay Champions– Raines HS

From the Football field to the Track & Field, the Raines young guns shot out like cannons in their 4×400 meter relay. Quincy Burroughs (JR), Kareem Burke (JR), Jaquon King(JR), and Kenton Kirkland (SO) were crowned champions running a 3:17.60.

Girls 2A 4X100M Relay Champions – Paxon

Asia Stanford [SR], Rose-Esther Saint-Germain [SO] ,Serenity Wade [JR] , and Kennedi DeVoux [SO] raced their way to a 4X100 state title at the FHSAA Championships at UNF. The fantastic four ran a time of 48.37 to bring the gold home for the Golden Eagles.

Girls 4X400 State Champions– Paxon

The Golden Eagles came back to win another gold medal, this time in the 4×400 at UNF. Danielle Gill (SR), Adriel Strickland (SR), Asia Stanford (SR), and Rose-Esther Saint Germain (SO) ran a 3:56.36 to stave off fellow Jacksonville team Episcopal, to take home the state championship .

Girls 2A 4×800 Meter Relay Champions- Bolles

Bolles was poised to capture another title in track & field and that’s exactly what they did. Thanks to Catherine Kunz (SR), Hadley Ropp (JR), Leila Bata (FR), and Layne Rivera (SR), Bolles was able to bring home the 4×800 gold medal.

2A Pole Vault Champion- Audrey Wuerffel (SR) (Bolles) Result: 11-03.75

2A Girls Shot Put Champion– Torryence Poole (SO) (Palatka) Result: 42-02.25

4A Boys 1600M Champion– Rheinhardt Harrison (JR) Nease Time : 4:08.14

Nease’s Rheinhardt Harrison set records seemingly with ease in this just his junior season. He set a new state record in the 3200 earlier this year running 8:47.43. Before that he set a record in the 1600 running a 4:01.34. It was almost a forgone conclusion that Harrison would take home the gold in those two events. What a year.

4A Boys 3200M Champion- Rheinhardt Harrison (JR) Nease Time : 9:02.26

4A Boys 300M Hurdles Champion– Kevin Davis Jr (SR) (Atlantic Coast) Time: 37.95
