Middle School Football: University Christian Defeats Bolles In Final Seconds

Jacksonville Fl- With the game knotted at two scores a piece in the fourth quarter, University Christian had the ball and needed to drive down the field to win the game. That’s when quarterback Cory Matthews took over. Matthews would hit a big pass to his receiver Chris Barnes Jr, putting the the team near the red-zone. Then Matthews would use his legs to take off up the middle, running over a defender and through two more on his way to the end-zone for the game winning touchdown. University Christian would go on to win 20-14.

Matthews scored twice in the game, his first score put University Christian up 6-0 in the first quarter. However, Bolles would respond with their power running game behind big Xander Edwards. Big first downs by Edwards turned into touchdowns as Bolles tied the game.

University Christian would respond to the score and go to their playmaker Kyree Wilson. Wilson used his quickness and speed to reel off big runs, culminating into a tough touchdown run to give University Christian the lead once again.

Bolles would respond to tie the score again with a big touchdown run, exciting the home crowd. They’re team fought hard all the way to the end.

Yet, University Christian would eventually get the game-winning score and close it out when Chris Barnes intercepted a last second pass for the win. It was a great season finale for both teams, good luck to all the eight graders, headed to high school next year.
