Former Trinity Christian Defensive Back Chamarri Conner Drafted By Kansas City Chiefs

Former Trinity Christian stand-out defensive back Chamarri Conner is headed to Kansas City. Conner was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs with the No. 119 overall pick in the 4th round of the 2023 NFL Draft. . Conner, a 4-star college recruit played college football at Virginia Tech all five years.

As a Hokie, Conner played as a true freshman in 2018 coming off the bench. In 2019, Conner started at nickel, leading Va Tech with 5.5 sacks, 68 tackles (10 for loss), 1 interception and 8 pass breakups. Conner recorded 81 tackles (3.5 for loss), 2 interceptions and 4 pass break ups.

He started all 13 games in 2021, with 85 tackles, 5.5 for loss with 2 sacks, 1 interception, 5 pass breakups, and 2 forced fumbles. Conner would get a fifth season in Blacksburg Virginia, recording 67 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 2 pass breakups.

Conner was named honorable mention All-ACC as a junior in 2020 and as a Senior in 2021.

In high school, Conner won three state championships. As a Senior, opponents knew better to throw his way which allowed teammates Stephen Williams (8 ints) and Nyem Bozeman (5 ints) to have huge years. Yet Conner still managed 107 tackles, 4 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

One of the toughest defensive backs this area has seen, Conner’s reputation as a hard hitting physical presence in the secondary is true to his game. The same type of player that he was in high school, translated to his play in college, and is exactly what scouts liked about his NFL potential.
