Trinity Christian Makes History, While Bishop Kenny Repeats History As Regional Champs

Jacksonville Fl- Three area teams are on their way to the Final 4 in volleyball after wins this week in the regionals finals. Middleburg cemented their trip on Wednesday with a victory over Ridgeview. However, two teams advanced on Halloween night, one making history and another repeating history, on their way to Winter Park.

Trinity Christian swept FSU High 3-0 in the regional finals to advance to the Final 4 for the first time in school history. They’ll travel to Winter Park, Florida next week to compete in the state tournament at10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7th, against Miami’s Westminster Christian.

The Conquerors in straight sets 25-16, 25-21, and 25-17 Tuesday night. Amaria King leads the team with 458 kills this season, and the Marquette commit dominated the affair against FSU with several powerful kills. She showed why she is one of the top volleyball players in the state of Florida, with the deciding point to lead a comeback in the second set. Ariel Ross showed up and showed out in the contest as well with several aces, including the deciding serve in the final set. Ross has 495 assist on the season and achieved a milestone, her 1,500th assist this year.

Taylor Teaman leads the team with 377 digs and 56 aces. She and Avery Haney both are leaders on the team with 50 plus aces. Tyauna Williams has 53 blocks on the season to lead the team. She and Taelyn Graham led the way up front blocking several attempts from FSU. Trinity (25-3) is the number three seed heading to their first Final 4.


District champion Bishop Kenny added more hardware to their trophy case defeating South Walton 3-0 in the regional finals to advance as the number 2 seed in the FHSAA playoffs. Kenny was led by Olivia Ryno who scored a game high 13 kills against South Walton. She along with Claudia Stockard (12 kills) were instrumental. Stockard leads the team with 255 kills. 

Cami Labyak led the team with 3 aces against South Walton. Natalie Navidi leads the team with 45 aces on the season. Sky Fick had 10 kills against South Walton, but she also leads the team with 66 blocks. She had 4 against South Walton. Alexis Sower’s 15 digs lead the team against South Walton. Kenny is a perennial powerhouse and is looking to go all the way.

In order to do so, they must attempt to make their own history and not repeat it. Bishop Kenny advances to the Final 4 for the second straight season. They fell to Santa Fe 3-0 in 2022 in the final 4. They also lost to Santa Fe in 2021 in the elite 8. They now face a team in Bishop Moore (22-8) who defeated Santa Fe 3-0 in the regional finals.
