Jacksonville Fl- The Episcopal Eagles have had an exceptional season, and it continued Monday night when the boys soccer team defeated Taylor County 5-0 to win in the first round of the FHSAA playoffs. Goals were gained all- around as the Eagles onslaught came from every angle.
Junior Charles Devooght led the team with 2 goals on the night. While Henry Neumann, Edmond Saoud, and Lucas Zeringue all scored goal enroute to a shutout victory. Neumann has led the team this year with 11 goals. Alexander Hillyard has also been exceptional scoring 10 goals on the season. Devooght leads the team with 9 assists and Drew Monti has denied the opposing team with 51 saves.
Head Coach Jay Bolt has done a masterful job leading his team to a 14-2-4 record. They’re 1-0 overtime victory over Providence secured a district championship for the boys club and girls club as Bolt is the head coach for both teams. Having both teams in the state playoffs is an incredible feat that requires exceptional hard work and dedication by a coach and his staff which includes Tyler Bond and Matthew Case.
In case you’ve missed them this season, you can catch them today, against #6 ranked Williston in the Regional Semifinals. #2 Episcopal is having their best season since the 2011 team went 14-0-2. That team along with the Regional champion 2010 team went deep into the playoffs yet fell short of a state championship. This Episcopal team looks to take it all the way.
