You’ll See UC In Lakeland; University Christian Will Take On Santa Fe Catholic In Final 4

Jacksonville Fl- University Christian went on a 13-5 run in the second quarter to erase a 2 point lead by Master’s Academy, on their way to a convincing 62-46 victory in the Elite 8. The Fightin’ Christians are headed to the Final 4.

Ty Duncan, and Dexter Clark Jr led UC with 14 points a piece against Master’s Academy. KING SANDERS scored 11 points including two 3-pointers. AUGUSTINE AYELYINE led on defense with 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals, as the entire team for University Christian got a chance to get into the Elite 8 action.

#1 University Christian defeated #8 Maclay 89-56 in the first round of the playoffs. Henry Arthur led them with 24 points, Ty Duncan and ADALBERT ALLOTEY both scored 14 pts while Marvin Christie chipped in with 13 points.

Next up for UC was Providence, a district foe and rematch from the regular season. Again Ty Duncan led the team scoring 13 points. Duncan hit three 3-pointers in that game helping University Christian come back trailing16-4 after the first quarter. UC would out-score Providence 14-6, 14-5, and 14-8 in the following quarters on their way to the dominating defensive 46-35 win.

The team is currently 22-8 with wins over Fleming Island, Ribault, NFEI, and Creekside. NFEI and Ribault are both Final 4 teams from the previous two years. In fact, it was a game against Ribault that saw Ty Duncan hit a game winning shot at the buzzer to show the resilience and resolve of the team. They never give up and keep the pressure on teams on both ends of the court.

They will face a tough test in the Final 4 when they take on 22-8 Santa Fe Catholic. The Hawks are led by Tate Darner ( Chattanooga Men’s Basketball Commit) who leads them in scoring with a 22.6 ppg average.

University Christian’s last visit to Lakeland saw them fall to Westminster Academy 64-57 in the 2018-2019 Final 4. This year’s squad led by head coach Jody Bailey looks to go all the way and bring the title home.
