Optimism in the air in General Nation

The Lee High School Generals kicked off their 2014 season with a thrilling 46-41 victory over the Fernandina Beach Pirates Friday night in its kickoff classic.

The varsity teams on both sides played 3 full quarters before turning it over to the JV squads. The Generals led 38-33 after 3 quarters while rushing for over 340 yards on the ground.

Lee was led by junior running back Tony Bell with 297 of those yards. Along with his near 300 yard effort, Bell also compiled 4 total TDs.

The Generals now prepare for this week’s home opener against non-conference opponent Baldwin. Head Coach for Lee, O.J. Small, likes his team this year. “We have a lot of young, talented skill players on this team. We are going to surprise some people this year with our speed and talent.”
