Ribault blanks Highlands in Middle School opener

As the thunder clouds rolled in from the east, the Trojans rolled up and down the field for three and a half quarters before the game was called due to lightning. Ribault exited with the victory 18-0 on a strong running game and stout defense. Every thing Highlands attempted was thwarted by the Trojans defense on Tuesday afternoon.  Highlands attempted to match Ribault’s size with their speed, however the Trojans were sure tacklers on this afternoon. Highlands was unable to gain traction on the ground  with sweeps or through the air with quick throws. Ribault’s offensive line paved the way for the scores on the day. With the victory Ribault starts the season 1-0 while Highlands begins  0-1.

Who stood out:

Trojans RB #5  and DB #2

DB -Corey Poole made the play of the day. On Highlands most successful drive, High lands RB took a pitch around the right end, turning up field down the Ribault Side line. Then out of nowhere comes Poole laying a text book tackle so hard, that it jarred the ball lose and Poole’s helmet. Highlands recovered the fumble but Poole’s effort stopped the drive.

Next game you check out look for these too, They are play-makers on the field.

Turning Point:

At the start of the second half with Highlands down by just 12 points, Ribault’s defense  stopped them on fourth down.  On the very next play. Ribault’s RB # 5 Josh Roberts scampered down the field for a 55 yard run to end any hope of a Highlands comeback.
