High School Baseball: Providence-1 Bishop Verot-3

The Providence Stallions fell to the Bishop Verot Vikings in the FHSAA Class 4A State Semifinal game with a score to 3-1. The Stallions scored first on a single by Jake Morrow in the bottom of the 2nd, but a bad throw in the next inning allowed Verot to tie the game. It would remain tied thanks to good pitching by Providence’s Nate Adams, until the 6th inning when Verot’s Ivan Cotto drove in two runs to give them a 3-1 lead. Providence’s chance to tie the game fell short in the 7th inning, and Bishop Verot returned to the State Title Game.

The Stallions had a great season, playing a gauntlet of a schedule, but still advancing to State. Congratulations to the coaches and players and good luck to the seniors as some continue to play at the next level and other move on to accomplish other great things.
