High School Football Power Rankings: Top 10 After Week #5

We’re at the mid-way point in the High School Football season and teams are gearing up for some big time match ups. The teams that are still on our power rankings after five weeks are probably legit contenders, so it would be wise to pay close attention to those teams that have remained on them, as well as those who have cracked the top 10 for the first time. Make no mistake however, the top teams on our lists are there for a reason. They put on for their city, and laid it down for Duval!

*Rankings are listed by record, team, last week rank, and this week’s opponent*

Corey’s Top 10

[ABTM id=24571]

1. 4-0 Bolles  (Last week #1)  at West Nassau

2. 4-0 Raines (Last Week #2) Bye

3. 2-1 Lee ( Last Week #3) vs. Atlantic Coast

4. 4-0  Sandalwood ( Last Week #7) at Flagler Palm Coast

5. 4-0 Baker County ( Last Week #5) at Palatka

6. 3-1 St Augustine (Last Week #6) vs Englewood

7. 2-2 Trinity ( Last Week #4) at Providence

8. 4-0 Mandarin ( Last Week #8)  Bye

9. 4-0 Fletcher ( Last Week Unranked)  vs. First Coast

10. 4-0 Ponte Vedra ( Last Week Unranked) at Westside

Corey’s top 3 stayed the same with Bolles, Raines and Lee rounding out the top spots. Then a shocker shows Sandalwood jumping up to #4 from #7 after blowing out Terry Parker. Baker County and St, Augustine remain at five and six on Corey’s list. While Trinity falls to #7 while on a bye week. Mandarin remains at 8 after their Creekside victory.  Next are two ranked teams from last week to appear on Corey’s list. Fletcher is back in his top 10 fter a week absence, along with new comer Ponte Vedra. The Sharks are finally impressing Corey and lurking into his top 10 for the first time this year.

Andre’s Top 10

  1. 4-0 Bolles (Last Week #1)   at West Nassau
  2. 4-0 Sandalwood ( Last Week #2) at Flagler Palm Coast
  3. 4-0 Raines ( Last Week #3)  bye
  4.  2-1 Lee ( Last Week #4)   vs Atlantic Coast
  5. 2-2 Trinity ( Last Week #5) vs Providence
  6. 4-0 Baker County ( Last Week #6)  vs Palatka
  7. 4-0 Ponte Vedra ( Last Week #7)  vs. Westside
  8. 4-0 Mandarin ( Last Week #8)  vs Bye
  9. 4-0 Fletcher ( Last Week #9)  vs First Coast
  10. 2-2 Oakleaf  ( Last Week Unranked) at Fleming Island

Andre’s top 10 is virtually unchanged from 1-9. No upsets with those teams last week. And as the late great Dennis Green once said.            “They are who we thought they were”. Bolles showed why they’ve been atop his list since day one with their dominating performance against Miami Jackson. Sandalwood put 60 points on Terry Parker in the 2nd quarter!! That’s why they are #2. Finally, Oakleaf sneaks into  Dre’s top 10 after their big upset win over Clay last week. St. Augustine beat a underachieving  Bartram team, and apparently Andre wasn’t impressed by their victory as they fell out of the #10 spot. Oakleaf looks like they are gaining lots of confidence as the season goes on. Andre’ likes impressive wins over good teams.
