Lane Ave was the place to be Tuesday night as the 12-1 Ribault Lady Trojans visited the 16-1 Potter’s House Lady Lions. A virtual who’s who of sports figures from our area were in attendance for the biggest game in town. Former basketball stars, current coaches and referees from various sports all were amongst the students and fans to watch this battle.
Both teams came into the contest riding high. Ribault came into the game averaging 70 points per game with Rennia Davis leading them in points. On the other hand, Potter’s House averaged 85 points per game, so the hype was definitely warranted for this match up. The teams definitely didn’t disappoint in the beginning. The game got off to a fast pace as the players fed off the electricity of the crowd. The Lady Lions used the 12th man to create turnovers and fast break points going up 21-15 after one period. The Trojans kept it close in the 2nd as they began to score in transition using their length as an advantage. At the half Potter’s House led 44-32.
Ribault had been known to step it up in the second half of games finishing their opponents and winning with large margins. However in this game, the Trojans would have to turn it up in the second half just to keep it close. Unfortunately for them, this would not happen this night, as Potter’s House would come out clicking on all cylinders. Ball movement on offense, and quick hands on defense made the Lions tough to handle in the second half.But undoubtedly, their shooting separated them from Ribault on this night. Guards Rellah Boothe and Denisha Swain weren’t afraid to pull the trigger from anywhere on the court as they’ve done all season leading their team.

Great sportsmanship was displayed on the evening and a mutual respect for both programs was on showcase for all to see. Coach Shelia Pennick for Ribault and Coach Tony Bannister of Potter’s house should be commended for their tireless contributions to the sport. Their staffs and players hard work is personified through both program’s mutual successes.
