Kickoff Time: Browns Versus Jaguars Game and Fantasy Preview

The Jacksonville Jaguars are ready to start the 2026 season. The Jaguars begin their 2026 campaign under head coach Liam Coen, who led the Big Cats to the playoffs in just his first year. The team enters the opener with optimism surrounding its offensive explosiveness, roster construction, and pass rush potential.

However, the Browns are coming to town under new head coach,Todd Monken who is making his NFL head-coaching debut. There is a lot of mystery surrounding the identity of the offense and if the defense will remain stout after trading Myles Garrett for Jared Verse.

Let’s break down some key players, game strategies, and offer some fantasy advice to get you ready for the game.

Jacksonville’s biggest advantage is the return of quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The former No. 1 overall pick remains the centerpiece of the franchise, and his ability to make smart decisions, extend plays, and connect with his receivers will be vital. Another year in the same offensive system has high anticipation for the numbers Lawrence can put up this year.

Fantasy Outlook: START

Every year my Dad says this is Trevor and the Jaguar’s year. And every year I’m cautiously optimistic. Well this year, I’m confidently optimistic that Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars offense will put up big numbers this year. This is the best game to start him against a Cleveland team coming South in September.

Brian Thomas Jr. -START
WR • Jacksonville
Thomas is the Jaguars’ top receiving target to watch. His deep-threat ability gives him strong touchdown upside, making him a preferred fantasy starter. Although many national analyst are down on BTJ, I am extremely high on his fantasy potential.

Bhayshul Tuten -BENCH
RB • Jacksonville
Tuten is listed as Jacksonville’s starting running back. He is an interesting flex play, but managers should monitor his workload alongside Chris Rodriguez Jr first before starting. I believe the rotation will be split pretty evenly, possibly Rodriguez getting goal line touches. I’d bench if I have a better option for flex until observing the first game.

Parker Washington- FLEX

WR. Jacksonville

Washingotn is the big name coming out of Jaguars camp. There is a lot of potential for Washington to out perform his great rookie season. He is a perfect Flex option especially in PPR leagues because he is sure to get lots of targets from Lawrence depending on game plan.

DST- Jaguars – START

Jacksonville’s pass rush must make life difficult for the Browns’ quarterback. Edge rushers Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker both have the ability to pressure the pocket. They will be central to the defensive game plan.Jaguars have a deep secondary, but the only question mark in the unit will be at Inside linebacker. Will the departure of Devin Loyd affect the unit as a whole.

Cleveland Browns

Quarterbacks- Bench

The Browns also enter the game with a major change at quarterback. Deshaun Watson is expected to start, marking his return to the starting role after nearly two years. Rookie Shedeur Sanders remains an important part of Cleveland’s quarterback conversation

Wide Receivers- Bench.

The Browns have also added talent at wide receiver, including rookies Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion.Jerry Jeudy returns to the unit but has been extremely inconsistent in Cleveland.

Runningback – Start

Quinshon Judkins was a second-round pick by Cleveland in 2025 after playing at Ohio State. He finished his rookie season with 827 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games before injury ended his season. He is in for a big year and should be started in every game.

DST- Bench

One of the biggest storylines is the Browns’ new-look defense. Cleveland traded star pass rusher Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, but the team added Jared Verse to help fill the void.

Game outlook:

If the Jaguars are Super Bowl contenders they should come out of this game explosive and with a convincing win. The Jaguars are favored by 8.5 points. Anything can happen in Week 1 of the NFL season, but the Jaguars should play hungry and confident and not timid and cautious.

Score: Jaguars 31 Browns 17
