Ponte Vedra Fl- Nease struck first, but Mandarin found its rhythm in the running game before halftime and the rout was on. The Mustangs entered the contest as one of the top teams in Florida. Coming off a bye week, Mandarin was looking to continue building momentum against a Nease team that entered the matchup looking to make a statement.
Nease had the challenge of facing a Mandarin team with playmakers at several positions. The Mustangs’ offense featured quarterback Knox Annis,running back Shaunqueze Foster Jr. and wide receiver Brysen Wright.
Annis (Miami commit) had already shown his ability to make plays through the air, while Foster brought a powerful running style that could wear down opposing defenses. Wright provided another major threat with his ability to make plays after the catch. The five star wide-out is always the number one focus of team’s game plans as the #1 ranked wide receiver in the nation.
Nease, meanwhile, looked to Aiden Phifer,(Northwestern commit), Chase Phifer, (Boston College commmit) and Enrique Ordonez to power it’s offense and set the tone early.l Nease took little time, making their presence felt.
Nease drove down the field, aided by a few penalties thatset them up in perfect scoring position. Aiden Phifer rushed for a touchdown to give Nease an early 7-0 advantage. The score gave the Panthers momentum and forced Mandarin to respond.

The Mustangs answered with a touchdown run from Chris Harrison. Harrison broke through for a 25-yard touchdown run with 2:13 remaining in the first quarter, putting Mandarin ahead 13-7. Harrison would grab the baton first for Mandarin.

The quick turnaround changed the feel of the game. Nease had opened with confidence, but Mandarin’s offense was beginning to find opportunities against the Panthers’ defense.
The Mustangs carried their lead into halftime, setting up a second half that would belong to their offense.
Mandarin came out of the locker room with a clear plan: establish the run and put pressure on Nease’s defense.
Shaunqueze Foster Jr. started getting going in the third quarter, and the Mustangs quickly turned their advantage into a commanding lead.
Foster broke loose for a 30-yard touchdown run, pushing Mandarin ahead 20-7. The explosive run gave the Mustangs a boost and showed why Foster was one of the players Nease had to account for coming into the game. He would grab the baton from Harrison and run wild.

With the Panthers trying to slow down Foster, Mandarin’s passing game found room to work.
Knox Annis connected with Brysen Wright on a pass in the flats, and Wright did the rest. The receiver turned the short completion into a touchdown, extending Mandarin’s lead to 26-7.

The play highlighted the Mustangs’ ability to create big plays in different ways. Whether it was Harrison and Foster running the football or Annis finding Wright through the air, Mandarin continued to put pressure on the Panthers.
Mandarin continued to control the game in the fourth quarter as Foster handed the baton to a surprising name.
With 9:15 remaining, Emmanual Cole to the baton and exploaded with a 75-Yd rushing TD. Delivering another big play for the Mustangs, powerful run game behind a bruising offensive line. The touchdown pushed Mandarin’s lead to 32-7 and effectively put the game out of reach.
Nease continued to battle despite the deficit. The Panthers found the end zone late in the game when Aiden Phifer tossed touchdown pass to give him two scores on the night, rushing and passing.
The late scores gave Nease something positive to build on, including the most impressive play of the night when Tyshawn Ford broke the taackles of several Mustangs from a Phifer pass to race down the sideline. But Mandarin held the Panthers scoreless on that drive.
Yet after the late score by Nease, it was evident that Mandarin had already done the damage. Jariyus Lewis intercepted a Mandarin pass, to vanquish any hope of a Nease peoric victory with 53.7 seconds remaining.
The Mustangs closed out the night with a 32-14 victory. The Mandarin Mustangs showed their ability to respond to adversity Friday night, overcoming an early deficit to defeat the Nease Panthers 32-14 in a Northeast Florida high school football matchup.
Mandarin improved to 3-0 on the season with the victory, using a stable of running backs that resemble a relay team. The Mustangs have established themselves as one of Northeast Florida’s top teams ranked #3 in the recent Duval Sports Power Rankinga, and their offense continues to show the ability to score from anywhere on the field. They will face the #1 ranked Duval Sports team Raines next week in an epic showdown of unbeatens.
Nease entered the contest looking to bounce back after two losses dropped them to 1-3. The Panthers have shown they can compete, but they will need to find more consistency on offense and defense moving forward. Fortunately for them, their schedule gets a lot easier than the murders row they have faced the first four weeks.They have a bye, followed by a game against Beach side.
