Westside Runs Through Hoffman Advances To Pop Warner Super Bowl Semifinals

Orlando- Bigger, stronger, faster, and fiercer is how you’d describe the Westside Wildcats (Jacksonville, Florida) in their Pop Warner Super Bowl Quarterfinal contest against Hoffman Estates ( Chicagoland Illinois). Westside was crowned city champions and regional champions, but for Head Coach Christipher Grubbs, that wasn’t enough for his team. They wanted more, and on Sunday they got more from their play makers on offense and defense to shut out their opponent 26-0.

Westside would strike first, on a 55 yard touchdown run right up the middle to go ahead of Hoffman 7-0. The Wildcats would increase their lead to 14-0, on a short touchdown run from 5-yards out on 4th &1 in the second quarter. Westside was in complete control of the game going into half time.

In the 3rd quarter, Westside’s defense would secure an interception on an attempted screen pass to set their offense up in prime position. Just two plays later, the Wildcats would score off left tackle on a beautiful ISO play as the runner followed his blocks all the way to the end-zone to make it 20-0 in the 3rd quarter.

In the 4th quarter, Westside would cement the win on a 60-yard touchdown scamper on a direct snap. The play showcased the incredible speed this dynamic team from Jacksonville’s Westside possesses, which makes them a hard team to beat in the tournament.

With the 26-0 win over Hoffman Estates, an association with three teams in the Super Bowl tournament, Westside now turns their attention to the semifinals Wednesday at 1:15pm where they’ll face the East Bay Warriors. The Warriors defeated the always formidable Virginia Beach Mustangs 44-28 in their first round game. Westside will have its hands full with East Bay, but the Wildcats are ready to make history. As they try to win the first Super Bowl championship in park history.
