Scooby Snacks on Ed White as Baker County Gets District Win

Ed White- Running-back #5 Scooby Graham scored two touchdowns for Baker County as the Wildcats defeated the Ed White Commanders 23-13 Friday Night. The win gave Baker County it’s first district win of the year, and an early lead in district race.

Graham got the scoring started early with a short touchdown run to put Baker County up 7-0. Graham followed the blocks of his offensive line untouched into the end-zone to the dismay of the Ed White home crowd.

After a Baker County field goal, the Wildcats would get another score from Graham on the ground. A short 1-yard plunge for the touchdown increased the Baker County lead to 17-0 in the 3rd quarter.

Twenty three unanswered points would be scored by Baker County before Ed White responded. The last coming from Jamarian Baker who took the zone read give up the middle for 15-yards and the touchdown, as the Wildcats held a commanding lead 23-0.

Ed White finally mounted a late comeback in the fourth. Micah Simmons made an acrobatic catch on fourth down to extend a Commander drive. It resulted in a Kentrelle Williams touchdown run to make the score 23-6.

Quarterback Will Clark entered the game and tossed a touchdown pass to Katadrick Storey for a touchdown for Ed White. However it was too little too late as Baker County ran out the clock taking the game.

Baker County (2-1) seems to be getting its mo-jo back after their loss to Bradford in week one. A close overtime win against Gainesville, before downing White has their young team building more confidence.

As for Ed White, they seemed to come out flat at home and turned it on too late, possibly underestimating a Baker County team. The Commanders are 2-1 and look to get back on the winning track facing a tough test in Oakleaf (4-0).

Baker County takes on Suwanee this week in hopes of building on the momentum from their win. They have the play makers to make the plays on the field. Now it’s a matter of being consistent against uncommon foes.
