Westside U10 Falls in Pop Warner National Semifinals; JPW Team Championship Bound

It’s not a regular occurance that a park has two teams participating in the Super Bowl, but Westside was one of the unique parks that has that distinction. Westside’s D1 U10 team in the new unlimited weight divisions of Pop Warner advanced to the Pop Warner National Semifinal after their win over Temecula (CA) Wildcats 31-0. Westside also boasted their D2 Junior Pee Wee team in the National Championship semifinals as well. Unfortunately only one of these teams would advance to the championship.

Westside’s U10 team fell to the Palmetto Raiders 26-0 in the National Semifinals, falling just one game shy of their goal to become champions.

However Westside would find redemption in the form of their D2 Junior Pee Wee team, as they defeated Capital City in overtime 12-10!

Westside was led by #3 Fareed Coleman who scored a touchdown on the ground in regulation, and in the overtime period. Playmaker Trey’von Moore took a direct snap the distance for Westside to keep pace with the talented Capital City squad.

In the end it was Westside’s defense that came through wit ha pass deflection and holding the Steelers to their lowest point out put all year. The Westside Junior Pee-wee team will play Friday for the D2 Pop Warner Championship
