Running behind offensive tackle Austin Barber, Trinity struck early and often. Their first score came with 9:27 to play in the first quarter when Webb took the handoff around the left side for the touchdown. Trinity led 7-0.

Trinity would begin on defense and force 3rd and long however an offsides penalty created third and short to which Mandarin was able to extend the drive. Penalties would plague the Conquerors all evening and early on Mandarin would capitalize.

With 6:00 minutes left in the first quarter, Mandarin’s Tre Lawrence would find his wide receiver Jalen Smith for a 15-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7-7. It would be Lawrence’s fourth touchdown of the season and Smith’s third touchdown reception.

Unfortunately for Mandarin that would be all she wrote for the Mustangs, as Trinity scored 26 unanswered points to pull away in the game. Webb would score his second rushing touchdown on the night on a 26 yard scamper. The touchdown was set up by the legs of JaCory Jordan who scrambled for 35 yards on the drive.

Trinity would take a 14-7 lead into halftime and immediately add to it with another Webb rushing touchdown in the third. Webb would retire to the bench to join star wide receiver Marcus Burke who started but left the game in the first quarter.

Leading 20-7, Trinity would not let up on offense getting a score from JaCory Jordan on a short rushing touchdown. The score was set up by Kaleb Killian’s 63-yard run capping an offense effort that ran the ball at will from every angle against Mandarin.

Kaleb Killian ignited the Trinity offense with big plays on offense

It wasn’t just offense, but it was defense as well for Trinity who shut down the Mustangs. The defensive line stuffed the run game, and linebackers pressured to generate sacks. Lucius Lattimore and Johnathan Goddard registered sacks for Trinity.

The secondary yielded 0 points for three quarters and closed the game out when Kensley Johnson thwarted a scoring attempt by picking off Lawrence and returning it 38 yards to the Conqueror 40.

The defense what set up the offenses final score when Mandarin fumbled a snap and it was recovered by Trinity defensive back Christian Ellis for a 35 yard touchdown. However and inadvertent whistle blew the play dead after the recovery.

Rogers would rumble in for the score to stamp the 33-7 victory. Trinity Christian travel to south Florida for a big matchup with American Heritage (3-0) next week.

Mandarin (1-3) has had a tough three games against Bartram(3-1), Lee (3-0), and Trinity (3-1). Last week was tough as they were forced to cancel their game with Nease due to positive Covid-19 tests on the team. As a result, Coach Ramsey and company were without a couple starters tonight on the line. It doesn’t get any easier for them as they look to rebound against Oakleaf (3-2) next week.
