Elite 8 Opponents Set; Bishop Kenny, Oakleaf, St Augustine, and University Christian Ready!

We now know who Bishop Kenny, Oakleaf, St Augustine and University Christian will face in the elite 8 this week. It’s been a very competitive playoffs for girls basketball in the area as several teams have battled it out to get to this point. Check out who these four teams will play next.


7A Playoffs

Oakleaf (23-2) advanced to it’s first regional final in program history defeating (18-6) Spruce Creek 65-52. Taliah Scott scored 21 points, and Kaylah Turner Scored 20 points. The Knights will face Timber Creek (17-5) at 7 p.m on Friday.

2021 Girls Basketball State Tournament Class 7A

5A Playoffs

St Augustine (25-1) defeated (16-7) Ponte Vedra 43-35 in the sweet 16. Kyra Stauble scored 16 points, Peyton Petrick scored 9 points, Janiyah Jackson and Aniyah Fisher both scored 6 points. St. Augustine will face Ft Walton Beach (17-3) on Friday in the elite 8.

2021 Girls Basketball State Tournament Class 5A

4A Playoffs

Bishop Kenny (19-9) defeated (18-5) Ribault 44-39 in the regional semifinals Tuesday Night. Jasmyn Roberts scored 12 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks for Kenny. Yet she was not alone as six different athletes scored for the Lady Crusaders. Jamia Nesmith scored 9 points, Sydney Roundtree scored 8 points, Maddie Millar scored 6 points, Ivy Saig scored 5 points, and Clare Coyle with 4 points.

Ribault fell behind early, but closed the lead trailing by as much as 10 points. Asiana Britt (12 points) hit a shot to pull Ribault to within 2 points. Steals and pressure frustrated Kenny leading to points by Britt and Nigeria Harkless (10 points). Kenny led 39-37 with under 2 minutes to play. Yet Ribault could not knock down their shot attempts, as Kenny closed out the game at the free throw line.

Bishop Kenny moves on to face West Florida (10-9) on Friday 2/19 for the chance to return to the Final 4 for the third consecutive year.

2021 Girls Basketball State Tournament Class 4A

3A Playoffs

St. Josephs (20-1) fell to (16-7) Master’s Academy 58-36. Kelly Cramer led St. Josephs with 13 points. It was their first loss of their 2020-2021 campaign, ending a sensational season by the Flashes.

St Joseph won their district championship this year

FSU (15-2) defeated (13-6) Jackson 74-52 on Tuesday night. Tonie Morgan scored 24 points for FSU. Jackson’s season ended at the hands of one of the best teams in the state and one of the best prospects in the country in Morgan.

2021 Girls Basketball State Tournament Class 3A

2A Playoffs

University Christian (10-13) defeated (8-4) NFEI 45-38 to advance to the Regional Finals to face Florida A&M (8-2). Lariel Green scored 14 points, Kennady Marshall scored 12 points, and Taijshiah Baldwin 10 points.
