Some big matchups last week shook up our power rankings as four Top 10 teams lost. That made way for some teams to move up by default, and other teams to move up by defeating their opponents. Let’s check out the power rankings and who charges up the rankings in week 4!

  1. Bolles (3-0)- Their battle with St. Augustine is always tough. Fortunately for Bolles, they had RB Kade Frew on offense who rushed for 204 yards and 3 touchdowns. And LB Jack Pyburn on defense who registered 14 tackles and a sack. Fernandina Beach is next up. DJ Moore looks like he is gaining confidence with every game. The Sophomore quarterback scored on a spectacular run in the game and hit big passes down field.

2. Riverside (3-0)- Riverside kept rolling over Ribault Friday night on the arm of senior leader QB Cale Zarah. The quarterback tossed two touchdowns in the contest. Fellow quarterback Daniel Plummer also added a touchdown pass to three different receivers WR Ronald Coleman, WR Rickie Shaw, and WR Devin Herring. The star of the show was wide receiver WRFreddie Manning III who returned to Ribault, a team he played with for three years in high school. Manning caught 7 passes for 129 yards.

3. Trinity (3-0)- It was over at halftime against Zarephath Academy as Trinity made short work of the Eagles at home. Freshman quarterback Colin Hurley passed for 288 yards and 6 touchdowns. Fred Highsmith, and Darias Smith caught two touchdowns each. Travis King and Seth Bialek both caught touchdowns from Hurley as well. Next up for Trinity is Clearwater Academy International.

4. Ed White (1-0)- The Commanders move up two spots after losses by teams in front of them. They haven’t played a game in two weeks due to their high school being shut down due to Covid protocol, and a scheduled bye in week #3. They resume with a district game versus Suwannee, and RB/S Christian Ellis, S Davaughn Patterson, and QB Isiah Teal are eager to get back on the field.

5. Creekside (3-0)- Creekside moved up from 9th to 5th in the power rankings. The Knights just keep on winning as they got a big victory over Fleming Island last week. Preston Strope added pass catching to his repertoire as he caught a touchdown from QB Jacob Dennie. Vincent Approbato added a sack, while Anthony Akel forced a fumble, and Carter Mceachean caught an interception. Creekside has Sandalwood (1-2) up next.

6. University Christian(2-1)- UC had it’s first loss of the year to undefeated Madison County. Alvont’e Toliver and Orel Gray both scored touchdowns in the contest but it wasn’t enough as the Cowboys took the victory 28-14. University Christian looks to bounce back against Bradford (1-2).

7. Raines (1-1)- After a bye week the Vikings are itching to get back on the field. They have a big test against the upstart Jackson Tigers (2-1) which is sure to be a renewed Northside battle. Kareem Burke, Quincy Burroughs, Kyree Hammond and company have never played Jackson, they’ll look to leave their senior years undefeated against them.

8. St. Augustine (1-1)– St. Augustine looked really good against the number one team in the area Bolles last week. A last drive came up just short at midfield, as time ran out for the Jackets. Had St Augustine drove down the field and won, they would’ve moved up the rankings instead of staying at #8. They will test Middleburg’s moxie this Friday who is 3-0 on the season.

9. Bartram (2-1) – Bartram had a late game let down against Lincoln last week. Eric Weatherly did everything he could to bring home the win, tossing a touchdown, catching a touchdown, and rushing for two more touchdowns in the contest. The Bears fall from #4 to #9 and will need to find an answer at quarterback with starter Riley Trujillo having to potential sit out due to a hand injury. It doesn’t get any easier as they have their border war with Mandarin (1-2) this week.

10. Atlantic Coast (2-1)- The Stingrays return to the top 10 for the third time this year, and we’re just in week #4 of the season. In hindsight their only loss was to #2 Riverside who has been dominating everyone. They got a big win against Sandalwood thanks to the “Duval Sports Player of the Week” running back Arthur Walker who rushed for 268 yards and 4 touchdowns. Coast will battle Nease (2-1) this week.
