Bartram Is The Best, And Back On Top As Champs

Deland Fl- Olivia Bori scored the opening goal to help Bartram Trail defeat Boca Raton 3-0 in the FHSAA Class 7A girls soccer final. The Bears (21-0-2) capped off their third state title in four years with an unbeaten season, and #1 ranking in the nation.

The game saw Seniors Reese Henley and Sophia Magdaleine score as well, with Bartram pitched another shut-out on the year. Make that 18 shutouts and only 7 goals given up this year by defenders Eden, Kennedy, Victoria, Haylee, Ally, Lily, Anna, Emma, Kenzie, and Avery McCormick. Goalie Lily Holden was instrumental with 58 saves this year.

Bori led the team scoring 27-goals on the season. Grace Ivey (19), Avery McCormick (12), and Carolyn Johnson (10) all scored double digit goals on the season. Ivey also led the team with 35 assists on the year. They defeated Cypress Bay 1-0 in the state semifinal, and Creekside 3-0 in the regional final.

What’s even more impressive, is that this particular group of seniors has won two state championships and accumilated a 72-4-5 record during their varsity careers. In addition to their incredible tenure at Bartram, five seniors are on their way to play D1 college soccer, all of who hold a G.P.A over 4.0 or higher.

Like all great coaches, head coach Jen Rodriguiez motivated her team all season in 2022-2023. The team last year by rival Creekside, ending an undefeated season and toppling a #1 ranking. That loss last year was secretly on their mind all this year.

” (The loss to Creekside) was a motivator moving forward, because I just everything that happened and the result and it just wasn’t really expected” said Rodriguez earlier this year. That motivation work, not only for revenge against Creekside, but reclaming their #1 ranking, and makign sure they didn’t lose to anyone this year. Unblemished and undefeated, Bartram Trail, the 2022-2023 state champs.
