The Quarterback Club: Top 10 Northeast Florida Quarterbacks For Week #1

Northeast Florida- Every week we will highlight the 10 best quarterbacks in the area. The Duval Sports Quarterback Club will update weekly, spotlighting quarterback performances, opponents, and superlatives on the field. Only 10 quarterbacks can be in, so there’s some that likely will be excused from the exclusive club weekly, in favor of a deserving QB. This is the best collection of quarterbacks this area has seen, and it’s a testament to the parents, coaches, and trainers in the area.

So let’s check out the Week#1 Top 10 Quarterbacks in the Duval Sports Quarterback Club

#1. QB 2024 Colin Hurley, 6’2, 215lbs, Trinity Christian (LSU Commit) <– Click to view player profile

The highest recruited quarterback in Northeast Florida the last decade is Trinity’s Colin Hurley. A consensus 4-star recruit by every national recruiting site. Hurley has been recruited by every major power 5 program in the country. Coaches and scouts have been impressed with Hurley’s arm strength, accuracy, and pocket presence, and if you’d seen him play you know why he’s much sought after.

As a 2x state champion, Hurley is one of very few quarterbacks that have led his team to the mountain top as a freshman in high school. He was a backup on Trinity’s 2020 state chapionship team, but got considerable snaps as an 8th grader.

His sophomore year saw him lead Trinity deep into the playoffs, passing for 1,444 yards, and 15 TDs in just 9 games (including playoffs) while overcoming a mid-season injury. His toughness is another attribute that defines him, while adding escapability to his game this past season.

The 6’3 QB comitted to USF two years ago. Similar to his head coach Ciatrick Fason, he shows dependability and loyalty, something that his receivers love about him. He will have his best passing year this year. Last year wasn’t bad either,  passing for 1771yds, 12 TDs: Rushing 709yds, 8 TDs.

Week 1 Away vs Mandarin

#6. QB 2024 James Resar– Bishop Kenny, 6’4, 199lbs, Iowa Commit

Passing for 1,656yds, 16 TDs: and Rushing 466yds, 6 TDs, James Resar has struck fear in the hearts of defensive coordinators for several years. He’s been the focal point of Biship Kenny’s offense without many weapons around him, but he has still excelled at a high level.

The 6’4, 199lb Iowa commit completed nearly 67% of his passes. He is a top-tier dual threat quarterback that is used as a pimary runner on some designed plays. He is quite possibly the toughest quarterback in the area, which is what you love to see from the signal caller. He is rated 3-star by 247 Sports.

Week 1 Home vs First Coast

#7. QB 2024 Rodney Tisdale Jr– First Coast, 6’2.5, 173lbs Western Kentucky Commit<– Click to view player profile

Rodney Tisdale Jr

Passing for 1,873yds, and 18 TDs (Western Kentucky Commit) Rodney Tisdale Jr has revived First Coast football and “Marty Ball”. Coach Marty Lee is able to toss the ball around as he did with QB Deandre Johnson (USFL). One indicator of a great quarterback is his ability to shine light on everal receviers, and Tisdale has done that at First Coast.

Standing tall and naturally spinning the ball with accuracy to receivers. Five different receivers eclipsed the 200-yard mark on the season, and all five caught touchdowns from the talented quarterback. He has incredible touch on the ball, and a very stong arm for his frame. He is the prototypical drop back quarterback, who is comfortable in the pocket and able to elude rushers when needed.

Week 1 Away vs Bishop Kenny

#8. QB 2025 Cibastian Broughton-Fleming Island, 5’10, 160lbs, (3-Star QB)

A 3-star prospect, Cibastian Broughton had great stats at the position. Passing 1,504yds, 16 TDs: Rushing 763 yds, 7 TDs. He has started since his freshman year and show incredible play making ability early. Offers from Bowling Green, Pittsburgh and West Virginia, teams have already noticed his magic on the field.

At 5’10, 160 lbs, the quarterback is undersized for some but perfect for others as we have seen a wave of smaller framed quarterbacks be drafted in the NFL. This is exaclty who this 2025 signal caller reminds you of. A confident player who has big games in his future.

Week 1 Home vs Clay

#9. QB 2025 Dwayne Stuckey, 5’10, 190lbs-University Christian

Dwayne Stuckey Jr was a playmaker and unsung hero of the team last year. He made lots of plays during crunch time for University Christian, and was a key contributor to their deep playoff run all the way to the state semifinals.

The rising junior. Passed for 1,564, and 16 TDs, His passing TDs were among the top in the entire area. In a heavy run offense, Stuckey was able to complete passes averaging 17.4 yards per completion. He is a big play quarterback, that shows his strong arm.
